Abhorrence | ‘Evoking The Abomination’

Reading that these Brazilians were hotly tipped, I decided to get the album. Unfortunately I cant be as enthusiastic, and I shall come straight to the point : I found this cd to be boring. It seems that the band have spent their entire youth listening to nothing but “Once Upon the Cross” and their entire careers trying to emulate it. Every single thing about this cd just sounds exactly like Deicide, right down to the reverb-drenched wammy bar solos, and especially in the vocal department. Sure, its pretty intense, and at times there is a hint of Immolation in there as well, but it never really manages to bring itself past the level of bland predictability. I hate to scorn lesser bands, especially from countries on the fringes of metaldom, but I just cant see what anybody who already has all the death metal standards really needs with this. Sorry guys
