The Pain Of It All

THE PAIN OF IT ALL

I just saw this posted on Xasthur’s (excellent) blog.

It probably sums up a lot of what Malefic is thinking right now, only I guess he has a much better sense of humour / humility about his own experience. Delete as applicable, but I bet they’re both true.

There are a few particularly interesting things that leap out of this this little tragedy-nugget.

I’ve done a lot of these kinds of interviews myself over the years, and it can be depressing like you wouldnt believe to see the utter emptiness of bands in their downtime.

Particularly when repeating stuff endlessly to hacks.

I like Tom’s candour here. But as you’ll easily see, it’s what he doesn’t say that really tells this story.

SPOILER WARNING

It’s probably best, before watching, not to read the following paragraph. It kind of kills the LOL/cry factor. But in fairness to the interviewers, it’s probably best to know:

“It was meant to be an introduction to Celtic Frost for people who had not heard of them as of yet. Tom knew this, and knew it was supposed to be a basic interview, not an interview for people who already know all there is about Frost.

After agreeing to it, Tom was kind of a dick about the whole thing. He was rude from the time they got on the bus, and he was rude afterwards to fans outside the bus. The same can not be said of the other band members.”

Anyhow. Of course there’s nothing more he wants people to know about the band.

HE SIMPLY WANTS YOU TO FUKK OFF, HACKTOID.

Gawd.

Saw this a while ago myself. In fairness, one could reasonably expect this kind of thing from a guy who posts things like http://fischerisdead.blogspot.com/2010/01/enduring-horizon.html
    and
    http://fischerisdead.blogspot.com/2010/01/hymn.html
and other such melodrama on his blog. I think he gets away with a lot of shite because of who he is/was.

  2. I was chatting to him briefly at SWR this year when they were finished playing. I shook his hand, told him I’ve been a fan of his work for years and I really enjoied their set (it was fantastic!) He seemed genuinely pleased to hear that.

    Anyway, end of pointless post.

  3. Say ‘okay’ one more time muthafucker!

Great interview if you ask me.

    Oh right, you didn’t… :(
