Metalireland Podcast #7

A small group from Fermanagh – and an amazing story of metal success.
Darkest Era have just come off tour, conquering stages far and wide with their amazing dark celtic metal. We catch up with them to hear what they’ve been at, and how far they have to go.
Then from the new to the old.
Paul Mazurkiewicz has been behind Cannibal Corpse’s drumstool since forever. He’s blasted and grooved his way through the classic albums of death metal, and most recently on the band’s highly satisfactory ‘Torture’. He takes us through the challenge of keeping it fresh, and of coming up with insane new tracks like the madness of ‘Intestinal Crank’.
All that plus our usual killer tracks and extras courtesy of Lorcan Archer. Enjoy!!
Update – we talk a little about Mael Mordha’s gig this weekend – it’s now been put back. Keep checking the gigs forum for more.

That HoF tune is pretty savage. The last album Ibought by them was the one with the big winged yoke and it was shite. This is way dirtier, like Surrounded by Thieves.

That Absolutist track is great. Very Nasum-influenced in a lot of places.

That Absolutist track sounds really like mid-era Ephel Duath to me. Good podcast – thought the questions in the interviews could have been a little more, erm, interesting though – even having studied sound engineering I don’t give a fuck what the drummer from CC has to say about what techniques they used in studio… not that he even knew! Thought the questions could have been a bit more “metal” and not so much “questions to ask any band”. Tuppence.

In fairness all members of CC have been trotting out the same boring interview since Vile. “I think this is the best we’ve ever been, blah blah blah, Sonic Whatever is an awesome studio”. Love the Corpse but they are boring as fuck in interviews. Absolutist is a cool track but that HOF track is eye-wateringly good. Unreal ending.
GOod listen!
