The Bunny The Bear | ‘The Stomach For It’

“The Bunny The Bear”. As band names go, it’s certainly in one of the lower percentiles, quality wise. Plus, in a touching homage to the 90s kerr-aziness of bands like Mushroomhead, Insane Clown Posse, Slipknot etc, they wear masks.

So basically, it’s a given that this is going to be a load of arse – and, as night follows day, it is.

Stylistically it’s very close to the recent album from keyboard nu-rave-metal abortives The Browning. It’s got the same detuned chunk and fruity-loop poptastic keyboards format as them.

Where they differ is the inclusion of clean vocals. Taking off from a vaguely Emo starting point, the whinging sung vocals here are frequently tremulous, rarely powerful and just a bit wick overall.

The shouty vocals arent much better. It’s all ex-girlfriend stuff, and it tires quickly.

I dont really know who this is supposed to appeal to: an impressionable thirteen year old into Funeral For A Friend would quickly assess this as utter ballix, while the band themselves seem old enough to know better.

Probably best summed up by a random comment on a blog site urging people to download this: “Some of the worst crap I’ve ever heard”.

They’re fooling no-one.

Ha ha ha ha ha. That is the worst ‘music’ I have ever heard in my entire life. The sung vocals? Jaysus wept, how do you embarass yourself like that?

  3. Yes, but is that a lime in the intestines there?

  4. This isnt anywhere near as bad as the review makes out. Personally I really dont like it, its too repetitive and the feminine vocals get a bit annoying, but at least its got a catchy melody. Its not really metal though is it? More pop than anything else

This is probably what the next Morbid Angel album will sound like.

That’s pretty horrible. It’s like an even worse Circle Takes The Square with a really annoying keyboard over the top. Probably listened to by Bright Eyes/Minus The Bear afficionados. I just can’t really see how one would get a kick out of creating this kind of stuff. Maybe I’m out of touch!
