What's it like playing a 70,000 ton cruise ship? This guy knows

It's Podcast 14 - Peter from Alestorm

He’s the drummer from Co. Down who’s just played the 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise ship.

Oh – and toured Japan, America, and done more festivals than you can shake a stick at.

Meet Peter Alcorn, drummer with pirate metal success story Alestorm.

You mightn’t think it, but they’re remarkably popular, and still growing. Their success has been down to plain hard graft on the road, with a punishing touring schedule and hard work ethic.

Peter took some time out of their relentless itinerary to chat with us about what a ride it’s been, and how he keeps sane through it all.

Home In A Boat

It was the festival that just couldnt get any better for a band whose imagery is all about life on the high seas – the famed 70,000 Tons Of Metal festival. This is Alestorm playing it. Nice!

Podcast #14 Sponsors – O’Reilly’s

Our sponsors for this podcast are O’Reilly’s Bar in Banbridge who’ve just undertaken a refurbishment of their venue and who are very keen to begin booking rock and metal acts.

You can get their details here at their page on Metalireland. Let them know you want to play! We wish them every success in bringing more metal to Co. Down.

If you’d like to sponsor an upcoming episode, or even a run of them – get in touch with us. Email here.

  1. Hahaaha!!! SNAP!!!!

I’ve an accompaniment interview with Gaz Murdock coming up on the Irish Metal Archive, too! Been putting the final pieces (his past bands being added to the site) together for ages now. But have it as good as ready to go, now!
