Fractured #11 | Zealot Cult: Voices From The Crypt

If you had to pick a handful of standout releases in the Irish underground in recent years, Zealot Cult’s ‘Karmenian Crypt’ must surely be in there.

The band’s homage to early 90s death metal is pure and true.

And through the release they show that passion for the form can still bring their own voice to a long established sound.

Always seeking to hold a lens back up to our best bands, John Mulvaney returns with his latest ‘Fractured’ film, speaking to Zealot Cult’s Jay, Mick and Declan about what keeps them motivated to play an old style with such determination.

What strikes me about this one is when the guys say they could never play another gig and still be totally up for the music – that a rehearsal with some cans is just as powerful when it comes to their death metal.

An awesome spirit!

  1. Another great installment in the series. I can’t wait to hear the ZC album.

  2. I love that guitar tone. It’s so heavy but clear and dirty all at once. As posted already I really can’t wait for a full length album.

  3. Miotal Trom Says:

Yeah, can’t wait to hear that album. These chaps could definitely be in line to go onto bigger things. Fantastic tunes. And another great installment from John. Cool stuff.
