My thoughts exactly. Wasn't fussed on their last offering.

Still not really feeling it. 'From The Gallows' is very 'Shades Of God' feeling, which is good, but... meh....

I've listened to it a lot this week. There's no doubt its their heaviest and doomiest album since Shades of God Id say. The more I listen, the more I like and Im starting to remember the tunes now - it sounds like it might be a grower, not an immediately obviously great album. It might also be flat and crap given more time - The growling has definitely improved since the last album, sounds great. No doubt i'll persevere with it for another while because its starting to sink in.

I also notice pretty big similarities between Symbolic Virtue and Fear of Impending Hell... but anyway.

The new version of Frozen Illusion is great though - its amazingly close to the original given the time thats passed between them.

do you think more than 3 people ever bought in requiem? I've never heard anyone else mention it, even though it's a great album

Coming round to it a bit. Turned out my track listing was all up the left. Now I've got it sorted it flows a bit better. No Passage For The Dead is really cool.

Agreed, that surprised me too.

Most seem to disagree but I'd argue not only was the Self Titled one of their strongest records, it wasn't In Requiem but with Paradise Lost did the band start to turn back and re-explore a more guitar orientated music again!

Given it two spins now and nothing much grabbing me. That production is horrible and flat sounding and the songs just aren't that strong. I think I'll go back to Vallenfyre for a bit.
