The from the vaults piece on Starfire has had me De-Throwning the Witch for quite some time now.

I had listened to it before a good few times funnily enough but never in a conscious way or not givibg it enough time to really worm it's way into my ears. Absolutely love it now, so keep them vaults opened please!

So where to next? Do they have another really great album or two?

Such a beautifully unique band. Starfire is the pinnacle alright, but I'd reach for The Power Cosmic after that. The other albums don't do much for these ears.

the power cosmic is class alright.
my favorite is a black moon broods over lemuria though.
that one sounds way darker than anything they put out after it.

I'll admit to never hearing Battle Magic but everything else is amazing to be fair. Completely unique sound and unrivalled in scope and pomp. I love how dark and heavy the debut is next to Starfire.
Rarely has a band with such a strong back catalogue ended on such a high as The Chthonic Chronicles.

All the albums are great .

Starfire is the pick for me followed by any of the others depending on mood really.

The debut "A black moon broods over lemuria" is the only album Id spin regularly from them. Was never into the other albums that much.

Maybe it's due to the fact that it's the first album I ever heard from Lord Byron et al but I've a huge soft spot for Battle Magic. Even their second album lurks in its shadow. I never tire of hearing how this heart pounds like a hammer or that the ravens are indeed on the wing!

If I were you Id go through them as they were released after Starfire, so maybe Battle Magic next. Black Moon is a great album too but if Starfire was your first by them maybe keep Black moon until later. Its quite different.

They're all really enjoyable though. The albums get more polished production wise as you go along after Starfire and the pomp and drama increases album by album... And it gets quite film score-ish at times. But its great.

Must stick them on...its been a while.
