Thought this may be of interest to some/ provoke dome debate.
I'll start off with "Battles in the north " my first Immortal album and probably the one I spin the most. Love the loose style and overall brutality on display on this record. Standout tracks like 'Moonrise fields of sorrow ' and ' Cursed realms of the winterdemons' demonstrate that cool controlled chaotic vibe.
Its also one of few black metal albums I know every word to!
Honourable mention to 'Pure Holocaust ' for second place.

Actual Immortal videos are funnier than that.

whats even funnier is the song they play on that is a cover of some tune from all shall fall and sounds better than anything the band actually recorded!

At The Heart Of Winter for me.
Withstand The Fall Of Time is the finest intro track on any of their albums. A pure classic

Heart of Winter is something else. Love that album, the stars aligned when they made it.

Pure holocaust by a long shot, followed by battles in the north and diabolical full moon mysticism. The band became a parody after at the heart of winter

At the heart of winter, with Sons of Northern Darkness 2nd.I get the relevance of Pure Holocaust within the early black metal scene, but i much prefer the other two albums I mentioned.

Battles in the North for it's brutality and chaotic style

i love everything though really up to and inc. at the heart of winter
i was disappointed with the image change on ATHOW though with the cheesy photos and logo change but the music stood up
dont mind SOND either
will be interesting to see what the demonaz version comes out with. Abbaths debut is a good listen too
great band all over anyway

Damned in Black is definitely the low point... though the most recent one was poor enough too. ATHOW is the best for me - though I always loved the craziness of Blizzard Beasts - Mountains of Might all the way... terrible production though.

Battles is OK, Pure Holocaust definitely has its moments too... the debut I never got into though...

Good to see early albums getting some shouts, i am hoping for a return to that style for the new record.Demonaz has said hes made true blashyrk metal which i read to mean cold, fast and grim! Athow getting alot of support, i personally really like this record and am not suprised by the support it gets. Its funny about 'blizzard beasts' maybe a good remaster is well overdue? I mean most will agree its production really lets it down. All shall fall is the one that never clicked with me, i spin it every so often but get nothing out of it, may try again today and see if any genius reveals itself..
