I watched a few eps with the GF's sister (her first time watching it). Season 1 has some killer episodes. Stark (hurr hurr) contrast between the seasons based off the books and those after. Tyrion's time with The Vale on trial is a great couple of eps.

100%. The interactions between characters just dosent have the brilliance of Martin's writing to drive it in the last few seasons.

Yep 100%. It's grand but not a patch on the whole Jeffrey storyline for example which was absolute brilliance. What strikes me is that I used to gasp when the likes of Jeffrey was killed despite having read the books and therefore knowing the story. In the last couple of series the deaths have been so predictable or badly done that they have barely gotten a reaction from me. Baelish's death should have really been monumental but instead it was just crammed in between a couple of other scenes. An unconvincing teenage court devoid of emotion or any sense of drama or anticipation...a huge opportunity missed I felt.

He's pretty solid alright! Those lads have been playing that for 30 odd years and he keeps up.
