are those maxon overdrives any use? i ran one in front of my krank before i switched to the X3 and wasnt convinced by, although it is (highly) likely that i wasnt using it correctly.

also, your guitar tone when SuG played at Damnation is one of the most soul-crushingly, oppressively heavy things I've ever heard. whatever it is you were doing then, do more of it

Mike, they're great in front of the right amp. Mesa Rectifiers have what's been noted as a flubbly or loose low end. What the Maxon does is adds a bit of compression and tightens the low end. You get a lot of attack and clarity, even with a lot of gain.

It's the old clean boost effect. Gain on the pedal all the way down, level all the way up and tone to taste.

sounds like that could be exactly what our other guitarist is after, he's currently using a Bugera and although it sounds massive he has found the bottom end to be a little lacking in tightness

Send him my way dude. I'm selling a MXR GT-OD overdrive that does the same thing as the Maxon. £50.

Thread necromancy as my setup has changed a bit.

Guitars pretty much the same but find myself recently limited to the
Schecter Hellraiser in standard tuning
ESP LTD Ninja 600 in dropped D tuning
Schecter JLV6 in open C tuning

Running them into a Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister Deluxe 40 with a Crate G412SL cab.

Effects wise, I've gotten rid of the majority of the Boss pedals and ended up with these out in front

Boss TU2 -> EHX Micro Q-Tron -> EHX Pitch Fork -> Digitech Dirty Robot -> Boss AC2 -> Boss NS2 -> Boss CS3 -> EHX Metal Muff -> EHX Big Muff Pi with Tonewicker-> JHS Soul Food -> Artec Twin Head -> Mooer Micro Drummer

In the effects loop of the head, I've a Strymon Mobius -> Artec Resovibe -> Mooer Ocean Machine (using a Bright Onion mini looper as an on/off switch).

Anyone else made any upgrades?

Bc Rich ST Bich going through a
Dunlop Cry Baby
Danelectro Fabtone
Tone City Model B
Tone City Golden Plexi
Tone City Tape delay
Tone City Angel Wing and Hotone Skyline in the effects loop.
Or sometimes just a Boss Me-50. All fairly low end pedals but work great for me.

Amp is either an Egnater Tweaker 15 or Orange Micro Dark.

Got the Fab tone about 20 years ago I think and never liked it but it sounds great through the Egnater.

Also use a Boss Loop station the odd time

Nice

Coupla alterations/additions since I lasted posted in here.

Still using guitarwise:
LTD Deluxe Mh 1000
Agile Septor
and recent addition LTD TE-200

Amps Bugera Tri-rec
ENGL Metal Master

Front of Amp:
Pitch Black Tuner
Mooer Pitchbox
Boss PS-5 Pitch Shifter
Mooer Phaser
Boss HM-2
Digitech Synthwah
Digitech DS7 (had one years ago but got rid of it. Probably only gonna use the Big Muff setting

FX Loop:
Digitech Nautila Chorus & Flanger
Boss Tera Echo
Boss DD7
Digitech Supernatural Reverb
TC Electronic Prophet Delay

A couple of the FX, although I'd have expected them to go in the loop, sound better in the front. I bought the Pitch box for the harmony function but strangely that sounds better for pitch shifting and the PS-5 is now being used as a harmonizer. Board is full now but I could afford to drop the DS7 possibly, until I write a song like 4th of July anyway. The PS-5 is probably unnecessary too, I'd get the same result from just changing settings on the Pitchbox to be honest.

Don't think I've ever seen the Septor in use...or maybe I've just been drinking and not noticed it at DM gigs.

It would help if we got up off our arses and played gigs. I used play every second one with the LTD and Agile.

Also managed to get the Grandmeister and Strymon apps up and running for some of the others. Basically if I get a fridge, I never have to leave this chair again
