Any of them really - I use a You Dirty Rat currently because it was the one they had in the shop, but a Turbo Rat was my go to before for travelling gigs and is probably the most "metal". I'd stick to the actual Pro-Co ones rather than any other makers really, the original and the best.

Going to have a sample of their goods next weekend and see what suits. Cheers!

I second the RAT recommendations. I used to use one as my main distortion for a good while. Just keep in mind the amp you are going to be using it with too. Some take pedals better than others and some prefer different types of distortion pedals.

I found my best tone came from a distortion pedal with the gain down pretty low, running into a Black Arts Pharoah into my slightly driven Matamp. The distortion pedal by itself was pretty flat and thin so I used the Pharoah to thicken it up and add a bit more gain to it.

The amptweaker pedals are meant to be fantastic too. The tight metal is meant to be based on the design of the first 5150 amps. However I'd say the Fat Metal is a bit more usable as its thicker sounding but it also has a switch to add in more high end and make it more like the tight metal.

Just grabbed a Rat Solo. It has a nice range, plenty to play with, so running it through a scaldy Marshall should yield horrendous results!

Is that a sandworm from Dune?

I reckon on many of the settings shown, it might struggle to cut through the mix. Looks deadly though.

I'm not much better myself. Spent the last hour looking at the AMT pre-amp distortion pedals based on killer amps...Peavey, Mesa, Soldano, Bogner. And they're cheap too....

I shouldn't have said anything

Surprised there's been zero offers on it yet.

Bloodbath finally posted the details of the Lone Wolf pedal.

$300 (plus shipping), thought it would be more to be honest given it's one-off run kinda nature.

As far as boutique pedals go, I suppose it could have been more, especially if it's a limited run. I'm really glad that I haven't really had to pursue looking for a distortion pedal. I genuinely think it's too hard to find one. Shops only stock a certain number of them and youtube is only so much of a guide. It's an absolute minefield, much more so than any other effect. I'm glad I've always looked at amps that provide decent amounts of heft. A coupla other dirt pedals just for the odd change of flavour rather than them being the main tone. If I was to look for one as my main tone I'd be driven demented.

Had one of these in for a small mod last week and it wins best HM2 based pedal for me by far. Love the all pass filter as a boost too. All pass is essentially the sound of a phaser with no movement/modulation to the signal if that makes any sense.
