Soft Machine - Hidden Detail

Huge Soft Machine fan but I must admit that this has surpassed my expectations - especially given that some of the members are not far off 80 years old and the band in all it's various guises is approaching 50 years old. Looking forward to seeing them live later in the year.

Working through the Death albums in order and currently enjoying Human, the Relapse remixed version. It is the benchmark of how to remix a classic album with due respect to the original mix while still enhancing the listening experience. Reinert and DiGiorgio get the presence and space they deserve without it ever taking away from the guitars or vocals. Beautiful work.

“Dropped” by Mindfunk plus bits of their other two. Shame they went bust; really had something.

Ultha 'Converging Sins' ... been listening to this incessantly all week. My favourite exponents of monotonous - in the positive, hypnotically repetitive sense - atmospheric Black Metal. And they get bonus points for comng up with a song title like 'Death Created Time To Grow The Things It Kills.' Can't wait for the new album in October.

Haven’t come across these lads before. Enjoying that track. This the best place to start with them?

Yeah, I think so. For another few weeks it's just the two full lengths ('Convergings Sins' and 'Pain Cleanses Every Doubt') and essentially two EPs ('Dismal Ruins' parts I and II) and a great split with Paramnesia (the Ultha side is the 20-minute track 'The Seventh Sorrow') from last year. There are a few more bits and pieces, but they're the main releases.

The new Archgoat. Bar some weird wanky soloing on one of the first tracks it just sounds like typical Archgoat. Which is good I guess but won't be rushing to buy it.

Harmony - Radiance From A Star

My 16year old self never could get my head around this band name and demo title and it still sounds like something you'd give your Enya loving oul one for Xmas but it's still some rocking melodic BM from yore
