Japanese postrock, worldclass. There wasn't a topic about this great band and they've just released a new album.

I like Mono, but they're one of these bands where I feel something's lacking. Hopefully catching them live at Roadburn will be the final piece of the jigsaw for me.

I like that album cover mind.

Good stuff! New album looks good and a deadly title looking forward to hearing it. They played here last year I think, unfortunately missed it.

Not too bad. €188 in total.
I dunno that Scion festival looks like it will be a disaster, I've read a few things about the organisation online and it could be destined to be a clusterfuck.

have you seen them before Cairbre? I'm a big fan anyway but they were fantastic live in Lavery's 2 years ago there, could teach a fair few metal bands about proper heaviness. Smile

looking forward to this; last thing I have is "Gone", but it pales in comparison to "Walking Cloud..". Never quite got into "You Are There", but some of it is genius.

I haven't Kevin, last time they played in Dublin I was hoping to go but living and working in Donegal at the time meant it couldn't be done.
Have one or two albums on CDR, must bring them to the mp3 player's frontline.

seeing them at Roadburn could be the ticket then...was just reading something on the Wikipedia page there. The last song on "Walking Cloud...." is a delicate wee piano piece called "A Thousand Paper Cranes" - apparently there was a Japanese girl who survived Hiroshima, but was diagnosed with leukemia at 12. She made 1,000 origami cranes because of a folk tale she'd heard in which a girl who had done that had been cured of illness.

all kinds of crushing when you hear that piece of music.

The last couple of Mono albums are pure class, cant wait to get this one. They were amazing live in Laverys a couple of years ago. I think Albini is producing this new one too, he did a great job on the previous album.
