| Parkway drive, Mastodon, Opeth, Motorhead & Slipknot are all being streamed live tomorrow from the sonisphere website. Maybe worth checking out. |

Really decent quality video and sound.
Missed Mastodon unfortunately but Opeth were great.
Currently enjoying Slipknot and fine red wine. And a toilet not full of unidentifiable, putrifying solids and liquids. |

| Kinda felt there was something missing with slipknots set (& no it wasn't their bass player) It kinda felt they couldnt wait to get finished. It wasnt much of a headlining set considering they only played for just over an hour. I'm sure there were people there that went to sonisphere to see slipknot who felt cheated. Mastodon were great as always. |

Missed Anthrax on the Friday as i was rushed to hospital, but i made it back in time for Firewind... whole weekend was great, and Metallica played a stormer of a set, although i thought The Shortest Straw would have gotten a getter reaction. Slipknot were great, but Joey has gotten fierce shloppy!
The 2 minutes silence was creepy as fuck as i was walking through the crowd, was like a horror movie. |

| Quality weekend all round, did anyone happen to see Mojo Fury on the Sunday morning? my head was way to far up my arse by that stage to remember, would have liked to give them some support tho even though they're not really my cup of tea. |

| Love that band. Heard they were great at Soni but didn't have the biggest crowd watching them. They're getting some amazing press at the min for their new single. |

To be honest its probably a bit early to say they're not my cup of tea when I've not even had the chance to see them live yet. They do seem to get rave reviews everywhere they go though |

Hi guys, I hoped to blog about this on Monday, but I didn't get a chance. Duty beckoned.
It was a great weekend though unfortunately I couldn't stay for the Sunday. There were a few highlights. Metallica were awesome. No matter how many headline gigs they play, how many million records, they are still the best metal band there has ever been.
They played for more than two hours. It might seem self-evident to anybody with an ear to listen, but Metallica are head and shoulders better than the other three.
That is so obvious when you hear the four bands one after another. Metallica have more great songs than the other put together.
Of the bands, I saw I loved Cavalera Conspiracy, great vibe at them, and particularly Watain. Standing in a sweltering tent looking at a band with two burning crosses behind was a particular highlight.
It was a great festival, not too big and very friendly.
What does anybody think about Sonisphere for Ireland? |

Some killer bands all weekend, its hard to narrow it down to one but they were a huge highlight for me...Amazing atmosphere throughout their set. |

My thoughts: Anthrax and Megadeth were damn good, and the refuse/resist jam was right on during Anthrax. Slayer were their usual crazy violence, you couldn't wipe the smile off Gary Holt though, he couldn't look happier. Metallica were brilliant, although the crowd was shit for the most part.
Saturday was a disappointment cause of the shit weather and shit bands. Cavalera Conspiracy were great and had the honor of the biggest pit to Roots. Richard Cheese was more a less hit and miss.
Sunday was mad, In Flames blew me away, as did Airbourne.
Slipknot truly stole the show in the end. Huge pyro and crazy build up lead to a great result. The empty Paul Gray jumpsuit was truly haunting and the ending hugs and goodbyes to the suit brought about many a tear and chills up the spine.
Weather was also very....... VERY shit......... |

How was it compared to last years, soni? Was at last years and enjoyed every second of it. this years line up didnt look quite as appealing as 2010 (of course when you got cooper rammestein and maiden headlinning you've got a problem topping that)
Any changes to the set up or stage positions? Are the bogs still as rancid as last year? |

This is my first Soni, so I'm not sure about the stages or what not, but trust me, the loos were rancid. Urinals were overflowing at times, the floors of the loos were covered in (What I hope was) mud.
They had a company there that had somewhat decent toilets: POOTOPIA!
Even then it was terrifying, it was just you sitting over a huge trailer of other peoples sh*t. So every creak you hear sends the fear of the floor breaking and giving you a lovely poobath...... |
