kunt 4 life wrote: How was it compared to last years, soni? Was at last years and enjoyed every second of it. this years line up didnt look quite as appealing as 2010 (of course when you got cooper rammestein and maiden headlinning you've got a problem topping that)
Any changes to the set up or stage positions? Are the bogs still as rancid as last year?
It was more or less the same... although there was no Strongbow tent this year. I stay well away from those toilets, i'll use the urinals but thats it.. i save my poo-poos for the nice trips into stevenage! |

I remember from last year there was a trough to the left of the appolo stage for pissing in. By sunday evening the drain got blocked and it was over flowing with piss.
I have been told that it takes 12 hours for food to turn to shite. So if I worked out that if i had my breakfast at around 10ish in my nice hotel in stevenage, i should been able to get back after the headlinners at the end of the day and not worry about being caught short.
Sad i know, but when i get old, planning these things out is going to be vital. |

Only went for the friday.
Anthrax were good, the refuse/resist jam was the highlight of the set for me.
Megadeth need to pull their head out of their arse with their set, opening with trust??? bollocks, class song but not as an opener. Need to stop playing the staples and bring back more unplayed tracks, frankly as good as their playing is they are becoming too predictable live.
Slayer were magnificent, since Tom had his operation they get better and better every time i see them. Flawless set start to finish, black magic was superb. Tight as fuck.
Metallica were great, nice to see they used the big 4 tour to shake up their set big time, but as someone else mentioned crowd was pretty shit during them. |

Tom's vocals have improved an incredible deal since his surgery, if i'm not mistaken he hit a crazy scream at the beginning of Angel of Death... Also... if i can put my false wooly jumper on for a second.. Gary Holt was a joy to watch with slayer... has a great presence, he looked like he was enjoying himself and he can actually play the solos correctly... excellent!
I see Metallica have gone back to the same old set again with the recent shows... personally i don't know why. |

| Just playing it safe it seems. Big 4 shows pull a more metal crowd in general, Metallica are the kind of band that attract alot of non metal or new to metal folk so they need to keep the set relatively safe. |

I dont mind them playing the more familiar tracks at all, my problem is for the past number of years the set usually follows the exact same format - Creeping opening into either Fuel or For Whom the Bell Tolls, Seek Finishing, Sandman before the Encore, etc.
If they just changed the order of the tracks it would make a huge difference...Start with Sandman and rattle it into Seek? Worked well in the old days and that would change it up completely today.
Glad I saw them at Knebworth, thought the setlist was great.
Only complaint was the beach balls at the end...I was right up at the very front so it was fair packed down there, no space whatever in between people yet, everybody felt there was plenty of room to grab a massive beachball and keep it down beside them so they can bring it home to mammy. Them things are massive!! There was a point where I was been completely sandwiched by beachballs because everyone around me were trying to hold onto them |

| Can't stand that craic.... Also, wtf are Metallica doing throwing around beachballs during Creeping Death? 60,000 people screaming "DIE! DIE! DIE!" while batting around beachballs is retarded! |
