Yeah, 'Blood Inside' is quite noisy and clattering. A bit difficult.
SotS is cool, "Quick Fix Of Melancholy" & "Lykantropen Themes" as Tez points out are totally essential.
William Blake was amazing in its era. However I'm not sure time has exactly been kind to it?
edit - and for the trivia hungry amongst you (and I know you're there) - Blake was where I got the Fires Of Hell username... see if you can spot it... |

| 'Blood Inside' is noisy but that's what I love about it. The live drums really add a lot to the tracks too. 'For The Love of God' is one of my favourite tracks ever. |

Good advice, Perdition city and Lykantropen have just been re-released on vinyl too, which is great. I like Blood inside too, it really grew on me after the first couple of listens.
Also, get Coil's entire back catalogue if you like any of this stuff.
I havent heard the new album but was not impressed by the samples from it that I did hear. |

Definitely agree with this too. 'Perdition City' in particular is influenced by a lot of Coil's output. |

| Maybe its that I'm fairly new to them, but out of the three Ulver albums I've listened to in full so far (Shadows, WOTR and Blood Inside), the newest one seemed to be the best. Clicked instantly with these ears, and builds a nice atmosphere. |

The Blake album will always be one of my favs, flawed though it may be I still love it, the ambition and scope of it never ceases to impress me. They lost me a bit with Shadows of the Sun - it just strayed too far from what I like about Ulver in the first place. Also, Garm's voice has changed too much for me.
That folky Ulver album who's name escapes me right now is also superb - very different. |

Yup. There is a remix of one of those tracks on A Quick Fix of Melancholy if I remember right. Superb. |

| After first being introduced to Ulver through Lyckantropen Themes, then hearing all the glory contained in Sots, I was severely disappointed by this. It's just garbage. I TRIED liking it because of the past releases by the band, but no discography makes up for this. |

Was going to post about Coil, glad to see someone beat me to it.
Musick to play in the dark 1&2, Horse Rotorvator, How to Destroy Angels, The Ape of Naples, and the Unreleased themes for Hellraiser are all absolutely mandatory listening for anyone with even the slightest interest in early (proper) industrial/experimental electronic/ambient.
When you listen to Coil, do you think of music? |

I'm enjoying blood inside a lot, thanks for the recommendation.
The production is unusual but it definitely adds to the overall vibe. |
