NO vote on it, all it needs is a signature and it's law!

Has an e-partition actually ever acheived anything other than being a comfort blanket for those who don't care enough to actually do anything but still want to try to ease their conscience?

Why not contact the minister directly and let him know your concerns one to one?

The page I posted has the petition and urges people to contact Sherlock, amongst others, KildareStreet lacks any contact details.

So it's not just about a petition, there's more to than that!

Here's a story regarding the umbrella the Irish legislation is falling under:

No votes required for it to pass either.

Forget that, fucking ACTA is being signed tomorrow. No vote on that either and I don't even remember hearing it in the news, although that's hardly a surprise given our corrupt media.
Can't wait until the internet becomes a glorified TV.

Fucking hell I usually just think people are overreating about stuff liek this but after reading up on it, ACTA is ridiculous! For one, all our the avatars on here could be taken down legally as most of them are from a film/tv series etc that is copyrighted. The layers of control and compelte denial of privacy it will enable is frightening

It needs to be stopped!

Dear Google user,

We're getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replacing them with one that's a lot shorter and easier to read. Our new policy covers multiple products and features, reflecting our desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google.

We believe this stuff matters, so please take a few minutes to read our updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service at http://www.google.com/policies. These changes will take effect on March 1, 2012.

GMAIL changing the privacy policies now...

Obama has already signed a global internet treaty, which seems to be the same law the Polish were protesting about this week.

http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20120126/11014317553/european-parliament-official-charge-acta-quits-denounces-masquerade-behind-acta.shtml

Quote:
I want to denounce in the strongest possible manner the entire process that led to the signature of this agreement: no inclusion of civil society organisations, a lack of transparency from the start of the negotiations, repeated postponing of the signature of the text without an explanation being ever given, exclusion of the EU Parliament's demands that were expressed on several occasions in our assembly.

As rapporteur of this text, I have faced never-before-seen manoeuvres from the right wing of this Parliament to impose a rushed calendar before public opinion could be alerted, thus depriving the Parliament of its right to expression and of the tools at its disposal to convey citizens' legitimate demands.”

Everyone knows the ACTA agreement is problematic, whether it is its impact on civil liberties, the way it makes Internet access providers liable, its consequences on generic drugs manufacturing, or how little protection it gives to our geographical indications.

This agreement might have major consequences on citizens' lives, and still, everything is being done to prevent the European Parliament from having its say in this matter. That is why today, as I release this report for which I was in charge, I want to send a strong signal and alert the public opinion about this unacceptable situation. I will not take part in this masquerade.

All people care about is the ability to be cunts to others they don't know on the net and embed youtube videos.
Sent an email to that TD lad berating him already myself, not that it'll do much.
