But no, in a bizarre twist, it turns out that metallers really love the rules, and prefer their heroes to stick to them, especially when it concerns concert start and finish times so they can get home early to say their prayers and get into bed at a reasonable hour.
The life and soul has well and truely been sucked out of the concert experience. Every piece of information must be known prior to attending a gig these days, leaving absolutely no element of surprise. Look at any gig post for confirmation of this, you will find questions such as;
What time does the gig start at?
What time's the gig over at?
What songs are all the bands playing?
What is the exact start/finish time for each band that's playing?
What merch will be available at the gig?
Are tickets available for the gig at the door?
What amount of time is allocated to changeover between each band?
That's why I think Axl is a hero and I think I'll head to this one for the unpredicability factor.
People have lives outside of gigs, work, college, wives, girlfriends, families etc.
People need to know when exactly bands are on and off stage sometimes so that they can see it doesnt conflict with work or family commitments, doesnt make you any less of a devoted metal fan.
For example i was working the day of the steelwing gig, with H posting up the set times i knew exactly when i had to arrive to see the bands i wanted to see so i was able to manage my work around that and then head home and sort out my family stuff in time without missing the bands. |

Bunit's right on the money. People have lives. If you're able to jump to heel every time Axl clicks his fingers well and good, but some of us have other shit going on. I for one am of the opinion that my time is just as fucking valuable as his and I will not go to a Guns n' Roses gig out of principle at the way he acts the maggot, regardless of how much I used to love this band.
His ballbaggery would be a touch easaier to take if he was in any way still relevant rather than a fucking parody.
The way he treats people does not make him cool or a rebel or metal as fuck, it makes him a diva. |

The whole family, job, shit to do scenario is a fair point... but to me it;s not the main one.
In the world of live music, we have curfews. Band goes on late, hits curfew, shorter show.
The fucking prices we pay for gigs these days makes this behavious completely unnaceptable.
If Axle went on stage an hour late, then said fuck the curfew, knock out all the security and still done a two hour set... rock and fucking roll!!! But it wouldn't happen.
Every single punter that paid to see Guns n Roses in Dublin 2011 got fucked over and for that reason, that fat ginger fuck shouldn't be able to sell a single ticket in Ireland. It's that simple. |

| Hey, we've all got shit going on, so don't assume I've nothing on my plate, I work, I've a family, I've a band, I've other things that take up time. Coming home late from a gig wasn't the end of the world lads. Ye are talking like a bunch of pure and utter cry babies. |

By all means Axl, break all the rules and stick up to fingers to authority and be a rebel, but when you start making it awkward and uncomfortable for your metalhead (paying) audiance then that makes you a tool. |

shoud have known Ariaga would be on here fapping over Axl fucking Rose. is it really that difficult to act professional for nigh on 90 minutes a night? you want to pay 70 yo-yo for either a full set or a couple of songs depending on the whims of a fat, balding has been....well a fool and his money are easy parted.
sounds as though Denis Desmond is trying to convince himself more than the paying audience in that article |

| As has been stated already, we got a full set that night. Only the people that were up past their bedtime lost out. |

i honestly don't know what's worse: your inability to see the larger picture that has already been discussed or the blatant display of having your head up Axl's arse.
it's like the fingers in the ears shouting loudly, unable to accept anyone else's valid opinions on the circus that surrounds Axl Rose.
let me ask this: granted you got a full set last time so good for you on that. would you be equally as defensive if he stormed off after, say 2 songs? would that still be rock n' roll? would you not feel cheated? |
