Workout tower? You mean like a power rack, bench and barbells?
Irish-lifting.com used to be very reputable. |

Nah Dave, have a bench and a load of weights anyway. Just one of these things, I do a lot of bodyweight exercises these days:

Mick is renting Irish lifting out to two blokes who are shit at doing the job. Go elsewhere.
lidl or aldi are selling a doorway pullup bar this week for 21 quid. It's not a bad one either.
Best option though is getting a set of rings |

| Yeah, want something with a wider grip than the doorway ones though. I'd also have to listen to the missus going mental for ages if I put one of those up. Anywhere else bar Argos to get stuff like that at an even half decent price? |

Currently in the first proper week of a modified deLorme cycle after completing the two introductory weeks.
I just checked a few days ago there to see why it was called "deLorme" and read this..
"Thomas deLorme was a Harvard trained physician, and was working to find ways to help wounded soldiers (WWII) regain muscle mass after extended bedrest. Through in-depth research, he came up with a heavy-light-medium pattern using light to somewhat more than moderate weights done in extended sets. The pattern worked quite well, and was used extensively to rehab wounded patients."
Basically, you choose two compound exercises (I'm using military presses and deadlifts) and work out your ten rep max. On Monday you do 5 reps of 50% of that weight, shortly followed by 5 reps of 75%, then 5 reps of your 100%, then take 3 mins rest. You repeat this for as many series as you can until you can take no more.
Wednesday is a light day for recovery with 5 reps of your 50% for as many series as you completed on Monday, and Friday is the medium day where you do as many series as you did on Monday with 50% and 75%.
If you manage to do more than 5 series on any Monday, you up the weight for the next week (5lbs for push, 10lbs for pull).
It sounds like you're not doing much but I ended up doing 105 military press reps on Monday. You read that right, 105. You fucking feel it the next day but in general I've felt very energetic on this and my muscle mass has already increased a little noticeably just through the intro weeks.
I have about 6 weeks left on this and the final two weeks are meant to be an absolute killer. Can't wait to see the effects at the end of this.
Then I'll take a week off and do it over again. Hah. |

Can anyone recommend a decent protein whey or casein to me?
I've been getting to the gym regularly (3 times a week) since the start of the year. I had been going previously before during the winter months, but mostly stayed to rowing/cycling.
Now I'm looking to tone and bulk up a bit as I've always been very lean looking, I think I've been around the same height and weight since I'm maybe 17, which is 8 years ago.
I've improved my diet a lot over the past too, never drank too much or too often and I'm really enjoying the work out I've come up with from online sources (like scoobys workshop).
I've been recommended by a friend of mine some supplement from Tony Quinn, but I've heard a lot of negative comments about the man himself and his products. Any truth to this? Anything I should avoid? |

| I recommend MyProtein as well. They don't taste the best though. If there's a supplement store close to you, go for Optimum Nutrition Whey (ON Whey). It's one of the most popular brands on the planet. Plus most of the flavours I've tried are absolutely class (mint chocolate being a favourite) and they don't leave a horrible taste in your mouth. |

| Second the myprotein suggestion. If you can, buy the unflavoured whey isolate and then buy the powdered flavouring. |
