I don't think that would have been the same lad, I'm pretty sure he would have though far right politics was nonsense being that he was into orthodox satanism.

It was a reply to some gay chap who posted here that got him banned. I think Testiclepoker is right though. Crossed wires on my part.

that was some other dude. I remember he had a website ready and everything, and got a lot of slagging by rich walker for not having any music. he then posted the SA track.

From memory, he hadn't pilfered an actual Sol Axis track, but it had been written by a guy who had some tentative link to the band.
The guy who had written and recorded the track/sample was due to become a part of this other guy's band/project, supposedly...

Think the guy some of you have in mind was Scriostoir or something like that, provided some good laughs. That Xirith fella's probably hard at work on a crabcore project these days.

I can't believe somebody else remembers Scriostoir. That was the Fuilteach guy, wasn't it? I remember him talking about black people being inferior because, and I think I've got this quote almost exactly right, "look at the world look at everything the white man has achieved."

That's pretty much spot on. I remember the amount of backtracking made on that one on that guy from Sol Axis's part, and I believe the person who made the original track eventually entered the topic and stated that he didn't once give permission for him to use the track as an example of Sol Axis's work and even mentioned that he hadn't decided to join Sol Axis yet anyway.

OK, just to clarify - the track was not an unreleased or un-anything Sol Axis track. It had nothing to do with that band.

The track was written by someone else entirely and, if memory serves me correctly, the idea was the person who wrote the track and Mr. Funeral Winter were planning on joining (unholy) forces (of evil) for an expanded version of FW.

Mr. Funeral Winter uploaded the track claiming it to be his new material, guy who wrote it came on saying it was his material, cue Metal Ireland drama and much hilarity.

That was it, in a nutshell.

When people are slagging off this band and the lad behind it, just remember that the band were one of the best black metal bands that came out of Ireland.
Yeah, all those photos of cats are gas and all, but what about all those other Irish black metal bands? Does anyone remember that band that had the videos of them playing in a skate park? Nocturnal Holocaust was it? Jesus wept.

Sure everyone knows being a tool is a prerequisite for making great BM. Or music in general. I met him in real life once, he was a proper overly self-conscious, every gest and movement must be simultaneously perfectly executed and cool aaand metal as hell teenager. But that's what BM is all about - pretentiousness. Imagine what Gorgoroth would have been like if Gaahl had been some incipid, flaccid, apologising "nice guy". Fags and BM, it's a match made in kitty heaven.

Fairly sure pretty much every teenager I've ever met that's been into black metal (including myself) could be described like this (apart from the perfectly executed shite). Only difference between me and the rest of them is that I'm much more of an arsehole.

Your use of Gorgoroth as a reference suggests ignorance. I've met plenty of people from actual good BM bands who have been totally sincere and genuine.

Indeed. I think the lad in FW put serious effort into the music, aesthetic and overall aura of FW and that's fucking great. Irish BM bands usually suck to the point of cringe inducement because they fail in both of these regards, the aforementioned Nocturnal Holocaust being a prime example.

I've known the lad from FW since I was 13, though I havent spoken to him in maybe 4 or 5 years. When I met him he was slightly younger than me and wearing a leather jacket and Morbid Angel shirt, he attended every 'extreme metal' gig that happened with his folks until he was old enough to get in himself! There was maybe 2 of 3 more of us hanging around Dublin at that age that were into proper Death and Black Metal and we attended every fucking gig we could and saw no one else there our age until we were maybe 17 or 18. Dave was an eccentric lad, no doubt, but he was always into the music and whatever he did he gave huge consideration and effort. He cut his hair and dresses differently but even last time I spoke to him he was up on underground BM. He probably just spends his time listening to music while you auld ones bitch about a lads fashion sense and whether or not they're posers.
