Ah righteo. Probably would have been better going there but how and ever.
Yeah, the supports got a good reception from the AA crowd.
Completely different crowd to the ones you'd see in places like the Pint. That's to be expected though. Good to see! |

I thought In Solitude were better in Dublin than Belfast. Better sound and a bigger crowd helped. I thought the vocalist was a bit spaced out though. Grand Magus were great again and Amon Amarth put on a great show. Decent turnout as well which was good to see. A fiver for a Guinness though |

Yeah, very fucking cheeky alright. Carlsberg is vile pish as well.
In Solitude were excellent. Great energy and the songs came across well. Vocals could have been louder and it's good to see they won over some people as well. |

IS vocals: I blame the singer. His sloppiness really pissed me off quite a bit. It can't be that difficult to sing INTO the microphone. Too much adrenaline (or other substances) in his blood? Otherwise good and energetic show.
GM: newer songs worked best. great crowd response. lots of younglings knowing the stuff inside out
AA: great show. amazing how bigh they are. can't think of any other DM band that would pull such a crowd. |

| I like In Solitude a lot, and I think the vocals work on record, but the fact is that the guy isn't really a particularly gifted singer and presumably that takes its toll on the road? |

Well, his vocals need to be louder in the mix anyway. Maybe some reverb to add extra body as well. His voice was fine, as in it was worn out, but what Markus is referring to is that a few times he didn't sing directly into the mic during certain parts so his voice 'dropped out', if you get me? |

In Solitude were magnificent. They can hardly do wrong in my eyes as it is, but this was better than the only other time I've seen them before, last year at Roadburn. Dunno how well they went down with the AA crowd though, myself and Ferglor were stuck behind a wall of uninterested asymetrical haircut kids who were appartently just holding their spots for the headliners. Pearls before swine!
Magus were powerful too, and they suit that size of venue. Glad to see them do a decent set after the underwhelming Doran's gig.
Didn't catch much of AA, entertaining enough I suppose. |

I'll agree with Barry and Scobes in saying that is probably the best I've seen In Solitude.
Grand Magus were savage as always. Saw mosh pits and everything...
Enjoyed Amon Amarth, even though I only know about two songs (which they played one after the other...)
Fairly wrote off by the time I left Club Poison... Missed the dolls doing the fire shit too. |

Yeah it was a shame really that the immaculate sound that afforded to AA was not granted to the support acts. I found it quite difficult to hear some of the nuances in In Solitude's tracks, wasnt coming through the PA at all. When I took out the earplugs I could hear more of what was onstage. Loved every song, really could have done with more! Good set all the same!
Was not expecting Magus to give it all that after some pretty ropey gigs i've seen them play... powerful stuff!!! Did they play Blood Oath?? I don't think they did, but I got a bit too drunkey too quickly and forget some of the songs...
Amon Amarth, watched about half a song... they really are a by the numbers band... couldnt hold my attention at all. |

| In Solitude's sound was a 1000 times better than Belfast the previous night. Couldn't make out any of the vocals or guitar solos. |

I wasn't at the gig of course, but what I am saying is that although I think his vocal style works with the records, he obviously isn't even on record a particularly powerful or technically gifted singer. The kind of laid back style really suits the new album in particular, but he couldn't sing in a Ram cover band let alone an Iron Maiden one. |
