Posted on Facebook. I don't have it added but it was brought to my attention.
Quote: It is with regret that tonight I have to announce that Ma's Rock Bar will close it's doors from 10.30pm.
Unfortunately, through a series of events that were way beyond my control we have been forced into this decision. We did have a professional verbal agreement to remain in the premises until Monday April 2nd where we would hand over the keys in a dignified manner, however, this was revoked and impossible demands made.
As a result the Alive & Loud festival is now postponed until we find another suitable venue.
I truly enjoyed the last 18 months and cannot thank those who supported me on the journey enough.
I fought to keep the bar open and these events are not just as a result of financial pressures and the current economic climate but also as a result of the costs of maintaining a building that has fallen too far into disrepair over the last 10 years.
I will be in contact personally with anyone that this decision affects directly over the next 24 hours.
I will be releasing an official statement tomorrow. Tina |

| Verbal agreements are ALWAYS the most professional. |

| It's bollocks news all the same - had a few good nights in there and I was meant to be DJ-ing that Alive & Loud fest with Baggy. |

| Yeah in fairness the pool table was good craic, well placed, and the upstairs bar and stage had a good atmosphere. I liked the feel. Shame it couldn't continue. |

Cue a barrage of comments welcoming this sadly.
Always had a canny time in it to be honest. Never had any issues and will miss it. Still on the positive side we have The Elms also. |

Can the Elms do gigs Wez? Haven't been in it in years.
And yeah, the usual twats are bound to weigh in with the whole self congratulatory thing aimed at Tina and completely missing the point of the shitload of gigs that went on in there. |

According to the girl behind the bar that is the plan Donal. No indication as to when it would be happening but it's in their plans.
Yeah I am awaiting the opinions of all the keyboard publicans to pipe up here. That place was responsible for some fierce hangovers. Had my last two birthday parties in Ma's and cannot express enough how well my friends and myself were treated |

| Cool place alright and Tina and her crew were always very welcoming. I didnt make it up there to often but when I did - I had a good night. The keyboard warriors will have a field day - always great with advice when it is not their money. |

| Sorry to hear this. Had some good nights in there, the latest one being on Saturday at Maiden City. Another one bites the dust. RIP. |

Yeah that'll be an easy enough one for someone to step in and take over.
I get why people are sad it's gone. I wasn't a regular patron but I had some good craic on some of the occasions I was in there. But what I don't get is the fatalism about it closing. I was there earlier when it was final ever orders and fuck me the number of "Where are we going to go now?" cries. Ummm, how about one of the other hundred plus bars in the city, a couple of which are also rock bars? |

Ma Nelson's is more than just a rock bar. If those walls could speak...
