A little greek band called Hail Spirit Noir have just released their first full length, titled Pneuma. Classifying this album is absolutely feckin impossible*, unsurprising since both members are from an avant-garde act. It draws from 70s blues, Black metal, progressive metal, psychedelia, gothic, doom and well, er even pop it seems.
I personally approached the full length with an open mind (well, as open as possible), and found that it was a little too disjointed for my liking, and the clean vocals veered very close to Jack Black (ugh) style warbling. There is however, the odd track or riff I like.
I reckon fans of Sigh, possibly Arcturus, and anyone who likes progressive metal should be able to find elements of this to like.
Against the Curse, We Bind
Mountain of Horror
Into the Gates of Time

Listened to it just there. As a whole, it sounds ridiculous. The entire thing is completely all over the fucking place. If that's what ya want, well bro that's like totally awesome but it's a head wrecker for the most part.
And what an utterly fucking rubbish band name. |

I agree with him most of the time so it'd hardly be a problem!

Aye, it is very disjointed, as I said, too much so for me, even if I allow the clean vocals to pass (which is difficult). I do however hear a lot of Roky Erickson in that Mountains of Horror track, and the ending riff is killer, I wish the whole song had it.
I just thought I'd post it up since this mob are actually getting a fair bit of attention in other places I've seen and there's always somebody who'll like something.
Plus, this is a discussion board, and slating something is still discussion |

Had't heard of them until you brought 'em up Reilly. Thanks for ruining me day!
These kinda of hybrids are all fine and dandy but you can never beat the true essence of a straight forward metal band whether it's heavy, thrash, death, black or doom metal. |

Yeah, but that's just our (based upon years of experience) opinion man. There's always someone who'll prefer The Sound of Being Interfered With to Scream Bloody Gore.
ps. Happy Birthday |

Weird, despite not knowing what to expect, they managed to defy logic by being worse than what I hadn't expected..
I'm off to go figure out how that happened |

It's probably Post-ElectronicAvant-GardeMath/Deathcore or something, which is only marginally more retarded than Progressive Psychedelic Bluesy Black Metal. |
