Yeah I'm not particularly blown away by this so far. Some of the piano pieces in it are almost embarrassingly bad.

My opinion has not been raised by clicking into that photo set. Quel dope.

Artwork for it is deadly.

I have never listened to Burzum in my life, nor ever even felt inclined to do so but I'd nearly buy it for that cover alone. Might just have to see what all the fuss is about finally.

In case any descendants of mine read this in future generations I'd like to point out my original post was referring to a different picture and not the one that now adorns the cover of this release.

And while I'm here, I have since actually listened to some Burzum stuff and realised why I've never bothered with any previous releases. Load of shite.

"The Varg is a guy that I admire. Even if thee criticize by your crazy ideologies, nobody can deny that he is good at what he does: MUSIC. The proof is new album Umpkistar, that is magical!
A Viking surviving in the globalization and the EXTREME LIBERAL CAPITALISM! For more that the people say, he does what I always wanted: To live his life the way he wants! Whenever I need ENERGY, INSPIRATION and Animo, count on these guys: Varg, Ted Skellun and Gylve Nagel, you are the heroes of the music!"

That Fallschirmjäger is worth a few bob, I guess the hat says more about the man than the music, perhaps he likes parachuting in pricy WW11 gear, and is not really broke as suggested somewhere here.

I got this almost three weeks ago, and I must say that it is a bit on the ropey side. It never really gets going, there is very little to hook the listener and it just seems slapped together. Perhaps he is running out of the ideas that he came up with in prison? I can't see myself listening to it all that much in the future after I give it a few more chances this month.

Its very different to say the least, I like it but I don't think of it as a metal album. I find it very relaxing and soothing, the sound of his natural voice suits me, I don't really like the vocals on the reworks album, I don't think his age suits that screaming vocals. Reading the book adds weight to the lyrical content, not having a word of english on it has its drawbacks but its a very simple album drawing the listener towards the nature of Burzum which really is a good thing in this world of self destruction, waste and greed. We need to remember the old ways if we are to create a sustainable future, people have this guy all wrong in my eyes, the extreme left are more of a problem than people think as they are more and more obsessed with all the wrong things.

I so wanted to like this album but after the excellent Belus it's been a steady decline in quality and seemingly effort. This latest one lack any energy or momentum. Maybe if the songs were shorter and there was more variety things would be better...

Belus is second to none when it comes to metal albums.

If you want shorter songs, listen to Rihanna or some similar MTV junk... or to grindcore Very Happy

What I meant was that mostly up til now Varg was always on the side of minimalist music but he's drifted too much into mindnumbing repetition - there's a difference.
