Hrey guys - previously this seemed to cause a bit of a backlash on another thread but as many of you will now know I'm doing a new rock segment on ATL once a month! Just wanted to check in and say hey and also feel free to send awesome bands my way! As much as I try to listen to as much new stuff as possible I'm sure some of you have heard great stuff I might have missed and I really want to give new bands a fair shout out
so far on the segment I've featured Ilenkus, Red Enemy, Liz is Evi, Zombified, Xerosun, Wizards of Firetop Mountain, Crow Black Chicken, As I breathe and Black Dunes (who are all class!)
Have a few more picked out but I like to tie them to gigs or releases so they're pretty spread out over the next few months and I'm always keen to hear more new stuff - either post links here or fire me an email to photos@carriedavenport.com so I can check it out. I will only play stuff I genuinely like and it doesn't matter how many bribes you send
(ps I honestly do love metal I saw some posts about how you guys have no background on me so primarily I'm a photographer I shoot for Kerrang (i know i've lost any metal cred there already) and used to present a metal show on blast 106 and now do this for ATL. Bands I love to give ya an idea of the sorta stuff I listen to include the likes of ACDC, Pantera (of course) Kiss, Poison, Valient Thorr, Gallows, CancerBats, and so on and so on...
cheers lads and ladies |

Personally i think you're fighting a losing battle when you say "i'll only play stuff i genuinely like!", i mean i wouldn't send a demo etc... to a DJ if i knew they wouldn't play it if they didn't like it.
Surely it's up to the audience to decide if it's good or not? Do you think Chris Moyles likes everything he plays?
He plays what he's told to play obviously because Radio 1 have a playlist but you have a free reign so why not play stuff you receive and see if you get any feedback from the listeners.
I'm not having a go at you, just saying it as i see it. |

| Can only be a good thing, fair to give it a chance before giving it the metalireland treatment. |

Precisely, plus look at the bands Carrie has played - from Zombified to Wizards Of Firetop Mountain? Let alone both bands kick ass, they're at opposite ends of the metal spectrum. Nicely done! |

| Good to hear. Also glad you've dropped the 'scare your granny' angle. |

appreciate the feedback guys - honestly though I think if I play stuff I think is pants then how do I know everybody else won't think it is too? Just because I don't like something doesn't mean nobody else will different strokes for different folks and all that but if I play stuff I genuinely think is good then I can stand behind it and say I like it if others don't and give off! I think any band recording stuff and sending it to djs or reviewers or whatever knows there's a risk people won't like it but it's a personal taste thing not a final judgement in any way but I only get 3 bands a month and there are so many out there making music I kinda have to go with what floats my boat so to speak!
here the scare your granny thing ya all took that awful thick lol i was only messin |
