Well.

Dunno how many replies this'll get! But, for those of you that have purpose-built recording spaces or studios, did you ever encounter any problems with acoustics or sound transmission in any of your rooms. and how did you address those problems??

I myself have a modest studio space set up, have done the research, the calculations, scowered the forums for tips and tricks and have built, what i think (subjectively speaking of course), is an acceptably treated control room. So im basically just fishing for other war stories!

So has anyone bothered fixing those nasty modal rings or flutter echoes, or just let them roam free like a true gentleman!?

Cheers.

I did some in my room alright, you can check out what I did here http://talesfromthepartydungeon.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/therell-be-no-first-order-reflections-in-these-here-parts/

Made a good difference, especially the bass trapping. Since that I've also got a set of stands for the monitors which helped with the stereo imaging. For the investment, there's a good return on it.

Everyone seems to be going down the DIY route recently.

Agree with the bass traps, helps improve the low clarity an absurd amount. I've the whole wall behind my setup covered in rockwool and fibreboard pads from Homebase.

Also have one diffusor on the back wall which helps contain the high frequencies like a boss. Another DIY job with just different shapes and sizes of 2x4's glued to a board. And all on the cheap aswell. Well worth the investment!
