Deadly heads up there Andy, some class stuff being released by this dude. Order going in pronto.
Personally I often find the most enjoyable stuff is the really obscure, limited release bands who you have never heard of and thus have no opportunity to form opinons, prejudices, expectations etc prior to hearing the music.
Like it or not, with bands you already know or have at least heard of, its sort of impossible to form a completely 'pure' opinion on the music, cos what you already know (or think you know) will have coloured your response (however slight) to the music before you've even heard it.

| Interesting point, Andy. I pretty much ordered all this stuff blind (deaf?) out of curiosity so it will be interesting to see (hear?) what they are like. The bands I had a listen to were fucking harsh. Check out Axnaar!!! |

Tis the thrill of the game really. On the constant prowl for new stuff and the rewards are all the better if you find something that ticks the rights boxes. Granted it used to be a lot more fun as a kid before being completely spoilt for choice with this here jinterwebs but the fundamentals are the same.
Big fan of the anonymity of a bad or scene. As with Bottle of Tonic's point, opinions are made straight away through pics, pseudonyms etc which sometimes work and sometimes don't but if your left with nothing you paint the picture for yourself. |

| Possibly why black metal is often dismissed out of hand, actually. It's as much about what you bring to it yourself in terms of your own knowledge and understanding of the whole shebang, its intricate tentacles spiralling out in a million directions. If you come to it already thinking it's a bit retarded or pretentious then the bands will do little themselves to try to convince you otherwise. They are probably happier for you to fuck off than to try to make you understand and that arrogance kind of furthers the distance more. |

This label might interest ya Andy. A few interesting bits on there, in the vein of the other stuff in the thread and they are doing the second release of a band referred to as "unknown artist". The first release is just a picture of static with no details. It's good stuff.

I listened to a Axnaar track but think I had the order already in - don't want to be taking too much on - but aye, harsh would be one word alright!

| Ow, that sounds savage alright. Like the industrial aspects of it. I hadn't listened to them but I'm sure I ordered their demos. I hope so anyway! At a glance the three scenes discussed so ar all appear quite similar but they all definitely have their own characteristics. |
