it's something of a Raven's (Ulster B) team going to the Wesht but with a smattering of experience P'and'N - I think it'll make for a good match, and definitely one Connacht will fancy their chances in. are you going?
reading my earlier post back it comes off a bit dickish. I'm interested in what happens post-Kidney with Ulster players and I'm looking forward to seeing more in the Ireland squad, especially Cave, who I think has a real chance at 13. Earls has never convinced me as anything more than a winger. I don't think Marshall has much of a chance internationally but Murray seems to be off form; perhaps if Sexton and Reddan are allowed to play their kind of club rugby in green Ireland will change for the better.
for Munster...the summer and season after are, obviously, a big transition period. I can't help but think of them as the Man Utd of Irish / European rugby though; a year or two of poor stuff may well lead to another 3/4 of domination. Perhaps the biggest compliment is that Ulster beat a team who, time after time, knows how to win. When Pienaar missed the pen midway through the second half (think it was 22-13?) I thought we were sunk! |

hoping Ulster can put Edinburgh to the sword in the Aviva today.
good luck to Leinster tomorrow; I think it looks a tricky try but if anyone can roll over an opponent through force of will it's Leinster. |

great opportunity for Jackson, indeed things should go Ulster's way. it could be tight for Leinster, fairly evenly stacked, but like you've said they've shown the ability to grind out a win, to put the brakes on and lump home a victory. i think the match could easily be a forwards only tight match with neither team risking a wide game.
personally looking forward to watching Terblanche and Thorn this weekend, their experience just shines thro, they manage to consistently look so calm and collected, as if they both move in slo-mo compared to the frantic motions of their teammates, like they just occupy a different time dimension. always in the right place, always working, brilliant.
huh two NIE players? jasus, the IRFU would have me killed. |

yeah i'm delighted PJ is starting, it's a big call but i think it's the right one. the performance against Leinster is something Ulster have to replicate and better over time.
completely agree with you re: Terblanche, the man is class personified. I've only seen a little bit of Thorn but he makes the game look very easy, he could probably play on into his late 30's.
a forwards match in the Leinster game could well be right, there's some amount of grunt on both sides! |

If anyone is coming down for the Ulster match, Rabid Bitch of the North are playing in Into the Void shortly after three o'clock and will be finished in plenty of time for ye to get to the match. Bring a bag of cans and start the day with a gig.
I'm looking forward to both matches this weekend.
I agree that tomorow could be a grunt fest alright. Nothing wrong with that. As long as Leinster win. |

| Great to see an all Ireland final, it just show's the quality of Irish rugby, both game's were great, I thought Leinster got lucky with Cullen and D'Arcy being let off, Kearny's drop goal was fantastic, I think it'll be a close final but Leinster have the quality of champions and that'll decide it. |

looking forward to the highlights of the Leinster game tonight, was following the score yesterday but haven't seen any of it.
Edinburgh didn't quite have the quality to puncture Ulster but I thought they played excellently. the fear during Terblanche's sinbin had my nails down to the quick, Munster-like defence though. Pienaar was coolness personified at times.
got tickets for Twickers a while ago and was terrified of being an almighty jinx. I don't know how Leinster cope with being in the late stages so often. confidence i suppose! |

His attempt against England in the 6 nation's was outstanding, very unlucky, on another note Sexton's conversion that went over the post, missed or converted? The angle was head on in the replay, so it was a hard call. |

| Really was impossible to tell from the tv, I thought. I was full sure Plug was gonna get sent off for that slap yesterday. Great wkend of rugby anyway. Happy enough to see either team win on the 19th. |

| Great performance by Leinster yesterday, particularly the first 30 mins of the second half. The last 3 mins were nervewracking beyond belief, they should have been more than 4 points up and it really looked like Clermont would get the try. When I heard Barnes was reffing I feared for Leinster but in fairness to him he reffed it well considering the "home team pressure" he was under for most of the game. It will be an interesting final but I think Leinster should have enough....and that's not being cocky or disrespectful to Ulster. |
