Anybody else put off going to see local bands there because it's a tenner in? Why bother when you can wait a month or two and see them for £3-£5 elsewhere?

On the other hand I'd happily pay more than £10 to see Tragedy next month.

I've yet to go to a gig at Warzone but I guess the bonus is that you would save a bit of money if you were bringing your own drink.

Yes £8 but I don't know how much it is to enlist.

Yeah the byob thing is really good so what they are asking to get in is nothing at all considering the money you save on pints

I'm not keen on alcohol and I drive to a lot of gigs. Check out a couple of bands and head home fairly prompt.

When did this happen?

So say average gig £5 - warzone £10 - £5 difference.

Average tin of beer £1 - average pint price £3.50 - so the difference in is the price of 1.71 pints. It really works out for your £5 gig +£2 for 2 tins you get into the gig and 2 almost pints for the price of 2 pints in the likes of the limelight.

well... at warzone we have discussed this a lot. to be honest it costs a lot to run the place and after paying rent we were left with the grand total of 100 pounds, we dont sell anything at gigs and so all our money comes from the door. Noone working there is being paid, with the exception of the soundman possibly. We are working towards changing it to a strictly members social club and thus being able to sell alcohol, legally, ourselves, this would enable us to drop the door price, at the minute we cant. There ya go. To be honest the ten pounds door tax doesnt seem to be putting too many people off as we have to turn people away from quite a few nights due to capacity.

It's a D.I.Y. venture, it's social space for the alternative community, personally i think the door tax is fine. If people dont drink and think they are being overcharged i am sorry but were not charging people to drink we're charging people to keep the place open.

membership is 12 pounds for a year

It is a fine door policy - 4 bands for £10? Cant really be bad to that.

I'm glad to hear that. I'll maybe have to adjust the calculator in my mind. Roll on Tragedy!

You might need to get a new one. You know the craic, some of those Belfast ones are well dodgy at times. Razz
