| I've known about this band for ages but never gave any full albums a listen and they have many, what are some good albums to start with? (besides the first one). |

| "Hossanas From The Basements Of Hell" is absolutely essential, quite possibly the best record the band as ever made. |

Depends what you're into really.
More metal related albums are; "Self Titled 2003", "Hossanas from the Basement of Hell".
I personally think the Killing Joke of the 90's was the best. With "Extremities Dirt And Various Repressed Emotions" as their best of that era. "Democracy" and "Pandemonium" have some really good tunes on it as well.
All the 80's material is a hit and miss from what i hear from most people. Some love it, some hate it. "what's THIS for...!" is a very good album IMO.
"Absolute Dissent" is a class album as well and a return to form with that 80's sound they had, for once a reunion did pay off!  . Haven't really given "MMXII" that much of a listen yet though it doesnt sound bad. |

| Absolute Dissent is pretty good alright. My favourite album by them is Night Time, it's probably their most Goth/New Wave sounding effort, but it has some class tracks. |

Absolute Dissent and the self titled are pretty good, at all costs avoid 'Brighter...' and 'Outside the Gate'. Still not sold on 'MMXII', may be a grower.
May wish to check out October File, similiar vein, 'Our Souls to You' is pretty good and disc two was produced by Justin Broadrick and the album features guest vocals from Jaz! |

You're going to get as many different answers as there are fans really. For example I wouldn't agree with avoiding Brighter Than a Thousand Suns but it's not one you should start with. And I didn't really get into Pandemonium.
My favourite is What's This For. I also rate the follow-up Revelations more highly than most. Night Time is also a standout though moves away from the earlier post-punk vibe towards a more commercial (for the want of a better word) sound. Of the later albums, Hosannas is my favourite though it's been all but disowned by the band - more to do with them having a hard time making it than the quality of it I think, and I know Geordie at least hated the raw production. The new one, MMXII, initially seemed a bit of a retread of older stuff to me but I've really gotten into it.
They're really a band that have to be taken on their own terms though. I'd recommend checking out songs on Youtube from the various albums and seeing what appeals to you. |

Pandemonium is a pretty good one.
Absolute Dissent, Hossanas From The Basements Of Hell and the second self titled one all mentioned before are pretty good too. |

Absolute musts in my book are the two self titled albums and democracy.
In saying that I approve of pretty much every album they've put out and they're easily my favorite band. Was gutted when they pulled out of (or never actually signed on for) the gig they were due to play in March this year. |

First 5 albums mixed in with Hosannas, killing joke 2003, extremities...to be honest i've been listening since 2003 and i'm not even through it all yet...it's a long worthwhile discovery.
Actually scrap that.....get the latest livealbum from pledgemusic...it's called down by the river, it's is essential killing joke!!
Geordie produced it and it shows as his tone is Killer!! |
