Anybody else heard this?
Unfortunately it seems the band are to/have wrapped it up, which is a real shame. This album has been out for a good while but I only got around to it this year (thanks Barry!) and I have to say, CT summed it up in his review on here with these words: "But buy, buy, buy this album. Fans of hard rock and grunge will revel in it, while there’s enough pulse and heft to satisfy heavier palates generally."
For those of you unfamiliar with the band, check out their myspace page if you're into Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, the more rocky Opeth stuff, etc. Really great stuff http://www.myspace.com/speedkingrock

| I remember seeing them in Fibbers a few years ago. Thought they were amazing. Was surprised they covered ytse jam by Dream Theater as I was obsessed with them at the time and knew few others that were into them. Bought their CD "Welcome To My Head". I wasn't impressed with it like I was with their gig. Must check out Cause and Effect. |

Saw them ages ago in Dorans (2005) and thought they were great but only have Welcome to My Head, which I thought was stylistically all over the place but had one good tune on it.
Will see if I can pick up Cause and Effect |

'Welcome To My Head' was basically a demo, and it suffered from all the pitfalls that a lot of demos recorded around that time suffered from - (presumably) small budget, poor recording, poor mastering etc. I love the band so I'm not trying to be critical of them when I say that, as their live performances from the same time were stellar. 'Cause and Effect' is worlds apart from WTMH in terms of recording quality, songwriting, musicianship etc. Do yourself a favour and check it out as soon as you can!
I'd really hope the lads would actually re-consider their decision to pack it in. I can only imagine that part of their problem is geography. I have no doubt if they were based in Dublin, Belfast or Cork, or even Limerick or Galway that they would have a far larger following at this stage and would have gotten the recognition that they deserve. Would really love to see more of them. |

For those of you that dont know me I was Speedkings manager & yes the lads have unfortuntely called it a day, which is a real shame because they were so so close, Roadrunner Records even flew over to see them live but it was not to be.
Without going into it to much some of the band lost intrest in what they were doing which showed in their live show, to coin a phrase they were "going through the motions" while other members started to "party" a bit to much which had its own regretable consequences.
As I said it is a real shame but we had such a blast and alot of fun, 10 years worth.
Would like to thank Miotal Trom for starting this thread & supporting Speedking over the years and thanks to everyone who came to the gigs, bought the CDs & Tshirts.
Special mention to our own CT for the support & reviews aswell, best of luck in married life Ciaran.
Nial, Speedkings singer/songwriter is currently travelling the world, writing & recording all the time. Some of the stuff he has sent me is amazing so watch this space, in the meantime you can check out Speedkings final gig here
