Also, as was previously referred to, there is a discussion element to this. Two metal music industry panel discussions will take place in Liberty Hall (next-door to the venue). The idea is to get a bit of knowledge and know-how flowing for musicians, bands, promoters, etc within the community/scene. This is very much experimental and I’m sure people will have their own views on it but if it works out I’ll expand the format for the winter one.
Details of the first of two panels on the day are
CTGOS II – Music Discussion Panels
Session 1: Taking your band to the next level
Liberty Hall,
Dublin
12:00 - 13:30
So you’ve put a band together, played a few gigs and recorded a demo. Where to next? The CTGOS panel discusses the steps that can be taken and routes that can be followed to get your band’s music to where you think it deserves to be heard. Whether you’re chasing the cult of DIY back bedroom obscurity or mainstream major label adoration the panel will discuss and share insights on the reality of how it all works.
CONFIRMED PANEL
Philly Byrne – Gama Bomb
Jamie Grimes - ex Drainland
Keith Fay – Cruachan
Conor Droney – Candelight Records/Plastic Head
+ 1 other
€5 entry and free for members of bands playing CTGOS 2012
RSVP on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/events/143228842467413/
Session 2: Metal in Ireland – State of the Nation
Liberty Hall,
Dublin
13:45 - 15:00
The last decade has undoubtedly seen the indigenous metal scene in Ireland transformed. The internet has proven to be a game changer for Irish metal bands and enterprises of all shapes and sizes. But just how far have we come? How do we compare to other countries and other scenes within our own country? Are harsh economy conditions impacting on some of the progress that’s been made? Where can we go from here and what are the opportunities in a music industry that’s in a state of major transition.
CONFIRMED PANEL
Nicole from Molten Mag
Ray McGowan, Phantom FM
+ 2 others
This session will be run by Alex Kazam from Mental Deficiency.
Free in for bands playing CTGOS II or to anyone with a CTGOS II wristband.
