Loyalty? He has carried Arsenal the last two seasons and given his all to them. He is at an age where he wants to win trophies and Arsenal don't seem to be in a position to offer him that. It has nothing to do with Loyalty |

True, but before that he barely played with his chocolate legs. I thought it seemed like Arsenal were showing good intent with the signings of Podolski and Giroud and could really make a go at challenging for the title next year though
I've no problem with him going, the longer it dragged on the more I'd a feeling it would happen, but the statement just seems a bit disrespectful to me, probably could have been handled better |

All this stuff about loyalty is funny. Of course, fans never like it when their team's best player and/or the fan idol leaves, but the fact is that as soon as a player is getting older, or no longer playing as well, they will be released.
While I don't really understand people who are multimillionaires going to play in hellholes like Chechnya for even more millions, if I were a professional working in London and a more successful, almost as historically prestigious firm in Manchester offered me two or three times as much salary, I really don't think I would have many qualms of conscience about moving north. |

| Agreed, I've always been fond of Arsenal as they've consistently played the most exciting brand of football in the premiership - and that includes the dodgy defense, no one can say that Van Persie has not given all to the club and he fully deserves to move to an elite club and win trophies. |

Yup, but we're talking things of the past here. Loyalty in football nowadays means nothing, save for Francesco Totti. Countries are bought and sold, why would football be any different?
On the topic of loyalty - this is my personal favourite :

Ah yeh, my dad fuckin loved Bully. And I take your point about a different era.
I've still to see a better goalscorer then Gabriel Batistuta, another one that can be chalked up on the ultra loyal books.
I've no problem with players going at all - but there is a certain ultra status achieved by world class players who elect to play for and stay at a certain club regardless, one has to presume that they truly love the club, the people, the area or city etc, and I think the supporters realise this and love them more for it.
...........course it helps if that city is Florence! |
