Hey forum.

My younger brother thought it would be fun to press in the paper/carbon fiber/whatever-the-manual-says cones in the woofers of my monitors. They're a set of Alesis M1 Active Mk II's. I tried all ideas I could find to bring them back out again, including using a vacuum cleaner and using duck tape, but to no avail.

The front enclosure is sealed off so prodding in the back of the drivers is also a no-go. I'm willing to pay for repairs but any advice is appreciated.

I had to replace a woofer in a MkII a couple of years ago. Remove the rubber ring on the outside of the speaker - ie where you would expect the mounting screws to be - it's stuck on and should come off with a tiny bit of effort. You'll then be able to remove the speaker out the front of the unit and see if you can repair.

If you can't repair, it was about €48 from Thomann for an active MkII woofer when I bought one. Good luck.
