| Say fuck the whole lot and put in an Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker. You'll never look back. Or, if thats out of your price range (they're pricey fuckers) go for Iron Gear's "Steamhammer" model. lethal pickup and cheap as chips. |

| Your gonna get alot of different answers on this so what type of pickup are you looking for? Hot, not so hot? Active or passive? Do you prefer a certain bands sound and want to emulate that or just a general "do it all" pickup for the styles you've mentioned? |

| yeah liking the sd-13. cheers for that. would probably be looking for a passive pickup have emg 81 in a jackson sounds good but in a strat??? trying to get an 80's thrash sound. actually i think yer man in sodom had emgs in his strat back in the day, or was it a charvel. does uping the emg from 9v to 18v make much difference? |

If you like the SH-13 you could also try the Duncan Distortion SH-6. Not so much on the treble end of thing like the Dimebucker. Its just as hot though and has tonnes of clarity.
Also the Dimarzio D-Activator is a passive pickup designed to give actives a run for their money. Mainly designed to compete with the EMG 81 as far as I know so if your going for an active sound but dont want to piss about with batteries and stuff that might be something to look at.
The 18v mod will up the output slightly but boost clarity, there are loads of vids on youtube with guys comparing the 9v and 18v as well as tutorials on how to do it.
Personally I've fallen in love with Bareknuckle pickups, expensive but man they have something for everyone! Check them out! |
