That's a good advice, but only for those who know about this website, while a few posters around the city would be noticed by everyone. I remember that everytime we organised our "Metal Swamp" festivals (3-4 times a year), the entire city was covered with black and white posters with a huge Baphomet/pentagram in the middle, sometimes you could see up to 10 posters in a row on one single wall or building Very Happy

Well that will never happen in Dublin, as there are littering laws and laws against flypostering.

Does anyone else get the impression that Ancikrist is in fact a nerdy little 14 year-old whose closest friend is his keyboard, as opposed to the monstrous fighting machine that he's claimed to be?

Problem solved.

I haven't. On the other hand, when Rammstein played in O2 arena in Dublin, I spotted one small poster in the whole city (on Mary street), so it doesn't surprise me that I haven't heard of this one.

Bad example really.
Rammstein appeal more to the non metal crowd than the metalheads.Much bigger than most metal bands around.
Besides the fact they were playing in the 02 so more than likely you'd have the concert advertised in newspapers

Not sure about newspapers, but occasionally I read Metro and never seen anything about metal concerts. In 2010 there was Iron Maiden concert and it was the same situation as with Rammstein; all I saw was one poster near Tara Street Dart station.

That's complete bollocks. Fair enough that you don't like them but the only people I know who like Rammstein are metalheads or at the very least people who really like heavy metal (and there are few of those who aren't metalheads themselves). But back to the point: I think Thelofty said it best with those five reasons but Ancikrist undervalues the attendance of people from other countries.

Sticking with Norway as an example, I've been to Inferno and Hole In The Sky several times and though [at least] half the crowd are locals/Norwegians - some coming from the very north, a 2/3 hour flight from Oslo or Bergen - there is a strong foreign contingent. At least a quarter and as much as a third of the crowd comes to the festival(s) from outside of Scandinavia.

As for festivals here, I reckon the best we're gonna get is indoor as far as metal is concerned: Burning Oak got a decent crowd and the orginiser still failed to break even (though came close). An outdoor metal festival would involve too much work, would cost way too much and would be poorly attended from a foreign perspective at least for a few years. Not saying we shouldn't try it at some stage, though. Wink
