€230 for Electric Picnic? That's 50 % more expensive than Wacken for fuck's sake, who on Earth would pay this kind of money for some mainstream pop/rock/whatever? I'd rather buy 100 bottles of beer and get hammered. |

| I'll probably head to this. Enough good bands on the Friday/Saturday to warrant the cost. Shame the Sunday is fierce shite, but ah well, I'm sure there'll be something decent to do. |

I read a review of last year's festival, possibly in the Irish Times, where the reviewer had spent roughly €1,000 over the course of the weekend including ticket, glamping, food, drink etc... and they thought it great value for money. |

| I think that's missing the point here that Wacken is a pile of shite. |

against my better judgement i went to Electric Picnic in 2009, my acquaintances at the time assured me it was "amazing" & "worth the money, it's a boutique festival... you'll see when you get there!" - the €250 ticket price seemed high, i was skeptical, but i had the money burning a hole in my pocket.
It was a bog standard, shitty music festival - nothing boutique about it except for the fucking hairdressers on site. got to see a couple of decent acts in shite weather. full of wankers/hipsters/dickheads. everything dear as fuck. vowed never to go back.
Paid €110 for a 4 day ticket to Rock Werchter in 2007 - barely any timetable clashes, more and better bands (Mastodon, Pearl Jam, QOTSA playing with the likes of Bjork, Chemical Brothers, Tori Amos etc), nicer food, lovely people, best weed direct from Amsterdam. Day trips into Leuven (for free via shuttle) for meals and real beer.
Spent more money all in going to E.P. than i did going to Rock Werchter... boggles the mind that i was able to fly to Amsterdam, get the train to Belgian border (bus/rail travel in Belgium was free with Rock Werchter ticket) for a 4 day festival and it was still cheaper, AND BETTER, than a festival in my own country. |

WTF? But at least I know how is it possible that Ireland has the 15th highest GDP per capita in the world and yet all the people are moaning that they don't have enough money.
If I took €1000 with me when I was flying to Brutal Assault, I'd have to be there till end of the month to spend it... |

For me there are too many black people at this festival. It makes the place look bad. Not a good advertisement for Ireland.
Hey Ancikrist, fancy a pint? Not Guinness though. Too black. |

Your statement provides the explanation why it costs what it does (or part of the reason anyway). Keep the price high, keep the knackers / racistspastics out and everyone else has a great time.
Best weekend of the year every time I have been. |

It's true that I prefer Belgian or German weissbier, but never thought about it this way
Btw if you want to keep someone out, there are much more effective ways of doing it than punishing everyone with ridiculously expensive tickets. |
