The areas around the train + bus stations are among the worst kips I've seen in Europe Laughing

Have you seen Naples train station and surroundings Fart? Pretty hairy place to say the least. Though I can't compare it to Thessaloniki.

The first thing I saw when I stepped off a train there early in the morning was a rear view of a massive (about 25 stone) gyppo woman with an very old mini skirt (probably donated by a charity), and yellow-brownish stained frilly bloomers down to her knees. The worst bit was that she proceeded to scratch her posterior and, in doing so, pulled the skirt and bloomers down at the back for a minute. Sexy time!

John, I've never yet been to Italy.

What is it with areas around stations though? Copenhagen and Bordeaux stand out as being in particularly bad surroundings too!

In Bilbao, as you cross the bridge to go to the Casco Viejo, take the street to the slight right, then take a left at the fork. The street should arc to the right. Theres a branch of Arise, which is like a chain store and a smaller shop called Gothic Zone, both are good for tshirts, Gothic Zone had a good range of Spanish and Basque bands.

Sound Pollution is pretty good over here. Not a whole lot of vinyl but cd-wise it's excellent. It's in Gamla Stan near O'Connells Irish bar

Pat, are they that bad?? It might explain how they had 3+ copies of 'Open The Gates' on vinyl... !! Still, I got some great LPs from them.

Nowhere at all unfortunately. Your best bet really are the chain stores HMV etc....
Avalanche used to be pretty good, with quite a range of good metal, excpet now they've jumped on the emocore/deathcore and 'intellihead-banger' hipster bandwagon and there's fuck all there anymore. Few good 2nd hand record stores though, but you'll not get much out of the ordinary.
