| I'm going to be in California later this month. Any decent metal shops in the San Francisco area? |

Shaxul Records is the only one I know of off hand in SF. Bough stuff via the mail order a fair bit in the past. |

Rasputin is an amazing shop in Berkeley, not far from Amoeba Records, which is also great.
Go downstairs in Rasputin, and prepare for your suitcase home to be overweight.

Best shop in Leinster To be fair he does sometimes stock decent guitar straps and decent knocking around guitars....
There's a cool music shop in Koln, can't remember the name of it but it's near the English language bookstore... great atmosphere, great range of rock and metal, and bargains to be had: picked up a James Murphy album there for 5 euros. |

Was in The Metal Shop in Tel Aviv earlier today, cool place with decent prices and good bit of vinyl. Five minutes from the beach too

Glasgow has a few good music shops for 2nd hand Vinyl, CD's, DVD's etc. Nothing mega specialist but you will come across some fairly cool stuff from time to time...
"Record Fayre" is an old fashioned music shop that does CD's / Vinyl / tapes and loads of T.shirts. Its down off Argyll Street (across from Maggie May's rock pub), next to the Tron Theatre. Have got some rare video's and vinyl / CD singles from the late 80's and early 90's over the years.
"Missing" is a good shop down under Central Station. They have lots of metal Vinyl and DVD's in the basement (I've got many WASP Vinyl Christmas presents from there over the years!).
"Love Music" (used to be Avalanche Records) has gotten a bit better in the last few years, a healthy metal CD section, the number of Vinyl in there has increased too recently. Its on Dundas street (just up some steps from the entrance to Queens Street rail station, near Waxy O'Connors pub).
There are 2 fairly big Oxfam music stores in Glasgow (one on the West End on Byres road, one in the southside, on Victoria road), both have metal sections and you can come across some good stuff from time to time.
There are a few general secondhand music shops out near Glasgow Uni, near Otago street. Plus the usual chain stores: HMV (one on Buchanan street and one on Argyll street, Fopp (one on Byres road, one on Jamaica street). |

Paul.
There's a Rasputin in nearly every city/town in the Bay Area, the one in SF itself is the worst, the best is in Newark (near Fremont) of all places, but that might have changed. The Berkeley one is pretty decent too. Amoeba in Haight-Ashbury in SF is fucking amazing, you could literally get anything in there.
When I lived over there in 2002 I came home with two suitcases full of CDs and records, thank fuck work was paying for my flights! |
