I recently read the very positive review of Ayat's new album in Zero Tolerance.
Has anyone here actually heard the album. Opinions?
My only other experience of Lebanese metal (Damaar) almost took my head clear off. Total violence and destruction. |

Just checked their metal-archives page, certainly looks very interesting. The reviews on metal archives mention industrial and anaal nathrakh(however the fuck you spell it) and that sort makes me wary, but I reckon they could have been written by people who aren't that familiar with the genre (one person refers to the genre of 'scary bm' like Deathspell Omega and Leviathan) and I assume they just mean chaotic and violent, though it does seem they use a drum machine. Their song titles are humerously blasphemic I particularly like "Collective Suicide in The Boudoir (Feeling Wonderful Tonight)", sort of brings GBK to mind as does their artwork and logo. I'll definitely be giving them a shot as soon as funds permit |

| Kind of curious about these lads too but as Wesley Shnipes was saying it could go either way. |

AYAT have nothing on DAMAAR. That 'Triumph Through Spears of Sacrilege' release is really something else.
The AYAT material is listenable, but the tongue-in-cheek angle that permeates the majority of the tracks is a little off-putting and only acts to water down what tangible venom remains within the music. |

I listened to two Ayat tracks on the Moribund website last night and was not overly impressed. They sounded somewhat interesting, and certainly quite unusual, but the dose of blistering venom I was looking for wasn't really there.
So maybe I'll pick it up on a whim one day, but for now I'm not purchasing.
I agree with you that Damaar is just incredible war metal.
Have you heard Veinen from Lebanon? Described as hypnotic black metal. Very computerised sounding drum machine, and material ranging from 'pretty shit' to 'damn good', and certainly with its own personality. I have the demo. It's only something to listen to once in a while, but I'm glad I have it. |

Must check them out. Cheers. |

| I'd say anything Xardas is involved in, is worth of checking out. if one is into those genres of music of course. |

| Damaar are decent but I wouldn't say they are amazing. I must stick on the EP again soon. |
