Oh yes I recall seeing them support Candlemass. Think Einherjer is definitely the best route for them Laughing
Did you buy a ticket already Ally? Only I had one of the Croatian lads on VB messaging me about problems buying his, the website doesn't work or something, I don't know.
So far the most appealing bands for me are Arkona, Fejd, Einherjer and Fjoergyn. I hope they go for more interesting bands like that than the bland crowd-pleasers seemingly always touring the UK (Korpiklaani, Tyr, Kivimetsan Druidi, Alestorm etc..) On the whole I trust Ivo's judgement for snagging decent bands though. There is only one band I'm hoping for, which would confirm my attendance again this year. Razz

Anyone else think Einherjer are a bag of bags?

Nope. 'Norwegian Native Art' is the greatest Viking Metal album since Quorthon gave it a lash.

Haven't anything sorted for it yet.

Some more bands have been announced! See first post for the updated lineup.

ooh Cor Scorpii, now thats an announcement! Never seen Dornenreich either, and Thyrfing are always deadly.

Finally something a bit less metal hammer friendly, was starting to worry that the rest of the line up would just be the Pagan Fest bill from earlier on in the year.

Well yes and no.

If you are prepared to pay a bit more than usual for your flights, the closest and the best option is to fly to Nuremburg with Air Berlin from Stansted. From Nuremburg its about 1 hour 20 mins by train. Not much hassle this way.

Not many low cost flights operate to this area of Germany. One option is to fly to Altenburg, from Stansted with Ryanair, but involves a few changes with trains afterwards.

What I have done before is fly direct from Dublin to Frankfurt (flights when booked well in advance are reasonably cheap) and then get the train, which usually take 4 hours or so. Trains in Germany can be expensive but if you book well in advance you can get discounts of up to 50%. Cheapest fare is about 50 euro return by train.

Any flights to Munich or Leipzig are also handy enough to get to Lichtenfels.

Yup. Load of rubbish.

Great festival though, the craic was good at it.

Will tickets for Ragnarok be on sale from Sentinel? Pretty class line-up, has anyone been to this in the past? Opinions/suggestions?

Dunno about the tickets in Sentinel, but they`re pretty easy to get online.
Class festival, great craic at this years one.Nice size fest and the sleeping halls are great for getting a nights sleep. If you can get reasonably cheap flights to Nuremberg go for it. I flew into Frankfurt last year and its around 100euro return train trip and 3 hours each way. I think Nuremberg is only an hour away.
You should check up www.bahn.de for discounted train tickets aswell can save you up to half price.
Don`t think i`ll be back next year though, not much on that lineup that really interests me.

Cheers for the heads up. Not the most logistically minded person in the world so that's a big help! Seein Arkona, Thyrfing and Tyr under the same roof should be class. Here's hoping we might get an Irish band on the bill! Maybe Waylander?!
