It says a lot about a person if they don't practise what they preach. The poster above was right when he said he didn't like Jones lack of regard for Machidas safety by just letting him drop to the ground unconcious. He admitted after the fight that he knew Machida was out cold. That to me is a fucking hypocrite. |

Completely agree. What kind of Spa can honestly profess to be a christian and then make his living hurting people? I'm sure Jesus would love to go watch his fights... not!

His legs are retardedly skinny too!
No one argues that he is a great fighter though. But I have a lot more respect for the lads who admit they are out there to fuck people up and win.
Anyway that fight showed somewhat that his hype is helping him scare the fuck out of opponents. If machida had being a little more aggressive on the follow up to some of his clean strikes then he might have done better. |

| i agree the jesus angle is retarded, i fucking loathe religion in general. however i think the large amount of crying is uneeded. what happened to live and let live? aint doing shit to you. also him dropping him is anything but dangerous. hell machidas corner even said it was fine. so is frank mir the devil for snapping nogs arm because he is a dumbass and didnt tap? machida should of tapped. simple as that. |

You're not getting the point. He's a fucking hypocrite, and thats what i don't like about him. And yes it is dangerous to drop a limp body on the ground. But then again thats the sport and i don't have a problem with that. |

Yeah no ones saying he shouldn't be allowed to be religious, just he should shut up about religion it clearly does not affect his life of beating the shit out of people for money |

Its not the fact he's thanking god that bugs me, I couldn't care less. Its the fact it looks so phoney and just like an act to try make him some sort of name. This early into his career and he thinks he's going to change the world. That he's a legend. Its MMA only takes one strike to end a legacy.
He's extremely gifted and creative but I don't care for him and I'm always hoping he'll get knocked on his arse.
Now if he was going into fights and instead of hiding how cocky he is behind religion just going in and fucking lads up without the bull like the cold blood killer you see in his eyes when you know he has someone I'd be behind him every time. |

| Strange discussion. Everyone was behind Wanderlei in Pride, and after he'd completly mangle his opponent he'd thank Jesus. I don't mind that stuff at all. Still, I don't really like Jones all that much, but it's cos he seems like a dick. Can't wait to see him get bate - I really wanted Machida to do it. Those pointy elbows though - they'll end any fight he wants to end, as soon as he wants to end it. Just one more thing Pride had over the UFC... |

It just seems one dig from those elbows and its game over...I suppose thats what the game is all about but until then Machida had done all the fighting and exposed Jonesīstanding game for what it is, a long reach and a lot of luck. Itīs funny though if you watch the start of the fight that Machida couldnīt give Jones a boot in the head because his hands were touching the ground yet one good elbow in the head, split the skin and itīs game over for the other guy...odd then that the fighters are forced to wear gloves to stop this from happening but elbows on the ground are fine..seems like adouble standard. |

Theres a big difference between kicking a downed opponent and the types of elbows allowed in the UFC, those elbows like in Muay Thai are designed to cut people open, they should really be knocking people out, their aiming for specific parts of the face with the intention of cutting their opponent.
Kicking someone or kneeing a grounded opponent is a different world away, the damage caused by a soccer kick or head stomp is catastrophic compared to an elbow.
Them four ounce gloves aren't doing much to help your opponents face, they may limit cuts but they help fighters not fuck up their hands more.
One thing I did like about kicks on the ground was that it stopped some fighters being too reliant on bjj and waiting for someone to sit into their guard. |
