One thing that pisses me off is conspiracy theorists. Especially the ones that say the moon landings never happened. It's disrespectful to all the scientists and engineers that worked on the programme.
So yes, please start your own conspiracy theory thread. I'm in work, and bored off my tits. I could do with a laugh. |

| anyone else interested in the sun? fills up most of my science needs at the moment.... it's like we've been semi taking it for granted in favour of deep space research...but eh yeah, fascinating stuff to do with how it all works and how the nuclear furnace is only ever a small imbalance away from stopping altogether... |

I've just come across this, that's brilliant. |

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2164306/Tesla-Model-S-New-electric-car-accelerates-faster-BMW-travels-300-miles-6-40.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
The new Tesla Model S rolled out of the factories over the weekend. It's an all electric car with 250-300 miles per charge range.
Its pretty much a make or break car for Tesla and electric motors in general.
It'll cost about £36,000 and about £6.40 for a full tank of charged electrode. Does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds.
It also has in-car WIFI and touch screen browser.
But more importantly the Prieto battery company received $5.5m in funding for its battery technology which has the potential to increase lithium ion battery capacity ten fold and decrease charging times by about the same.
Whatever the success of the Tesla's new car I think the success of the Prieto battery if it lives up to its promises is of greater importance. |

Speaking of dodgy neighbourhoods, Voyager 1 is possibly on the cusp of entering interstellar space.
It will leave the sphere of influence of our sun and into the great unknown to dance upon the cosmic tides.
Gonna chug a beer to Voyager1 when I get home. Much respect. Go with God Probe. |

it's fucked how big space is... all that time to just barely get outside 'domestic' space....
I took up drinking when I read about the last days of the universe where the matter in the various galaxies becomes so dispersed that all stellar objects are so mutually distant that there'll be nary a handful of things to see for the last life on Earth. A bloated dark red sun eeking out some dismal solar radiation to a dry husk of a mostly barren planet...the only twinkles in the night sky some similars and brown dwarfs in a tiny localised galaxy of maybe a hundred remnants...
There's not much to say to a universe where we don't even know where the borders might be or where it might just be that pre 13 billion years ago is permanently dead beyond the horizon..... |
