Seen this type of thread on several other forums before, haven't seen it here yet so figured I'd start one!
Basically post up what sweet deals you've gotten through the years on gear. I'll get the ball rolling
Got my audix dp5a set of mics( i5, 2 Xd2's, D4 and a D6 with clamps and a metal case) for 415euro new- used to go for 1100 on thomann.
Got an old but working perfectly bass cab for free from the venue I work in- it was just there in a back room, I did a few favours so they gave it to me!
Got a set of P.A tops for 180- they're EV clones, in perfect nick, work savage as a monitor rig.
Got my ESP horizon custom and hardcase for what worked out at about 350 euro, traded in a straight swap for it.
Got 3 sm57's and a beta 52 new for 150euro
Got a handy ss poweramp and halfer tube preamp together for 50 pounds, the shipping from northern ireland down came to almost as much as the gear!
Been fairly lucky with some of my aquisitions. Alot of jumping on the right deal at the right time. Me and my bro always seem to be able to pool our funds and pull the trigger on some killer deals when we see them. Everyone in my band is the same- we're complete gear junkies! |

Best deal I ever got was from totalmusicsupply.com. I got a brand new Marshall Vintage Modern 100W head and a brand new Marshall 19060A cab for 980 euro. If I got them anywhere else it would have cost me about 1840 euro.
I bought them at the start of 2009 when the sterling / euro situation was heavily in our favour here in the south...score!!! |

| ESP 400 Series Jazz bass for IR£300 back in the early '90's. I've had Fender, Rickenbacker, Sadowsky, Warwick, Musicman and more over the years, none have come close to being as good as this bass. |

have been fairly lucky over the years when it comes to getting sweet deals, but my two greatest hits are unquestionably:
Epiphone Les Paul Standard Premium Plus (Birds-Eye Maple, limited edition) with SD 59 in the neck and a Dimebucker in the bridge for £200 off my buddy Ian. Best epi LP i've ever played, bar none
Epiphone Futura Prophecy EX - (24 fret, set-neck, flame maple top explorer, loaded with EMG 81/85) with a reinforced gigbag for £311 off Thomann. Possibly the most under-rated (and under-priced) guitar ever built. Seriously, thon thing's a demon! |

| Best deal ive ever got on anything was my head and cab. 150 bob for my Valveking 100 head, perfect nick and sounds huge! A berhinger 4x12 for 100 bob. I know people tend to stear clear of behringer gear but this sounds great, really clear sounding even at max volumes! |

Beauty indeed. Well worth spending my savings over. I've been hungry ever since, but fuck it I'm happy!
I got a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL head for only €300 2 months back. It's 10 years old I think, but still in good nic. |

Slightly off topic but which Behringer cab is it? Might be picking one up myself. |

I'd be pretty sure you'd notice a huge difference if you got a cab to match that head of yours. Those valvekings are great amps, that's why it sounds great, but people steer clear of behringer for a reason. Do your head a favour and get the most out of it dude! |

Dont bother - keep the head , but change one of the speakers for a vintage 30 or classic lead.
Use that speaker as the one the sound man mic`s.
Most of your FOH sound these days tends to be via the PA , so one really good speaker in the cab being used for that purpose, the rest are just so you can hear yourself. |
