Having a late licence means you can stay open that much longer and make more money. Raising money at 12am is total bullshit.
Obviously not just referring to Brux here.
It's simple economics. . . Drop the price, sell more. . .

Was in there tonight and it was a good laugh, but getting a fiver and shrapnel back from €20 on a bottle of beer and a 330ml of Bulmers pissed me off! Tiger was supposed to be cheap, but none in stock.

Good to see some old faces again, but the place is a rip off!

Yes the price goes up at midnight but that's to cover the extortionate cost of a late licence. Every bar that opens till 3am has to pay it.

Thats absolute bollox. By staying open later you get another three hours of your punters buying drinks, and you'll have a chance to get more in the door as other pubs shut down. By charging more after 12, you're just going to drive people out anyway.

Having been in bars that open til 3, I can't think of any of them were suddenly my drinks start costing more.

A huge amount of Dublin bars apply this rule.

I'm fully aware that they do, however there's others out there that wont. I'm not singling bruxells out for doing it, its just total bollox. A publican talking about extortionate costs... thats one for a good chuckle

The licence actually cost a hell of alot more than I ever thought & that is a nightly cost. Tbh I can't think of anywhere that opens late that doesn't have an increase late in the night.
I'm not the owner so I don't have final say on prices, I did however manage to get the price of a pint down from €5.90 to €4.95 plus all of the specials, which is a decent improvement.

A bar owner who decides to charge ~€6 per pint deserves to lose his/her bar, that is after they've been sprayed with chicken shit.

Indeed €6 is an insane amount to charge for pint, a price I neither supported or condoned! Thank fuck I was listened to otherwise we could of lost an institution!

I think the barstaff are getting alot of unfair flack here! Generally the bar is very busy the weekends, especially for gigs such as Maiden etc., I think they fly through orders considering the amount of people v's the 2 of them behind the bar! I've been in plenty of other bars that aren't as packed & been left waiting ages! Was gonna mention the bar staff in the Voodoo but I think they were in a league of their own!

As has already been mentioned in this thread, The Pint has a late license and pints remain at €4 all night.

Well that's one of the only bars in town I've heard of doing that, even my locals raise it after 11. Not saying I'm agreeing with it but I understand why it's done, seeing as it's a late bar 7 nights a week the 2/2.5hrs that they pay the licence for every night the cost doesn't get covered during the week & that wouldn't included the extra costs like staff wages etc.

Bruxies is a fucking joke. The same old songs being blared at ridiculous levels, TVs showing some other videos that don't match what you are listening to and over priced beer, if you are lucky enough to get served by that grumpy fuck. I haven't been in there in ages and I won't be going back anytime soon.

I love all this "the late license costs so much more and it's a nightly cost" etc etc.
Sure just post what it costs every night, what's the problem with doing that?
