I wouldn't advise scaling the fence into the woods, it makes some racket and the security will be there straight away. Attempted it myself in '08 when I was convinced by my mates Varg Vikernes was living in a cabin in there.

What about Coroner? I was expecting anyone jammy enough to get to this to be raving about 'em. How did they sound?

Has to be said a deadly festival. I ticked a fair amount of bands of the to see list.

Bands I watched Friday
Forbidden - enjoyed the circle pits other than that its not really my cuppa

Triptykon - Amazing. Opened with four Celtic Frost songs which sounded even slower and darker than on record. The Triptkon songs were unreal live too. Hope they do a headline european tour soon.

Devin Townsend Project - Absolutely fucking killer. Devin knows how to rock and the atmosphere was electric for him. Best line from him was 'hey you guy in the manowar shirt, barf on my nuts'. Have to get my ticket asap for the gig on november that cant be missed.

Saturday
Skeletonwitch - Didnt do much for me but had a beer and wiped the cobwebs off from friday night.

Finntroll - The usual you would expect lots of beers and jiving good craic always enjoy these type of bands at festivals.

Immortal - I expected a lot more after being blown away by them at Hellfest 2007 but I guess the second time seeing a band will not always be as good as the first time. The sound and technical issues really pissed me off during their set.

Sunday
1349 - Just wandered in for a look as i felt I had not seen many bands all weekend, they done the same job as skeletonwitch done for me on saturday not mad about that type of black metal anyway.

Primordial - Amazing even after Alan lost his voice the crowd sang their hearts out and stuck by for the full set. Cannot wait to see them in September.

At The Gates - After years of wanting to see these guys it finally happened and they completely blew me away and totally exceeded expectations. Was hilarious doing a crab walk circle pit during one of their songs.

Motorhead - Were a tad disappointing Lemmy sounded like he was pissed and there is rumours they were all shitfaced an that may be why the set was cut short by 20/30 minutes. Always enjoyable all the same though.

Probably a bad thing to start drinking Captain Morgans on the flight over at 8am but wanted to start early as you do, we were all locked by the time we got to the supermarket for beer.

Mouldy hungover when I eventually got home on the monday i thought I was coming down with something nasty but I just needed a proper rest in a bed.

Biggest disappointment for me was missing the bin jousting friday and saturday night. Food was really good, Uncle Gios italian place is so tasty and do a whopper breakfast calzone and drink for £5 before 12pm. Toilets were reasonable too and cleaned once or twice a day. From what I hear next year Bloodstock clashes with Brutal Assault and Metal Camp so Im not sure will I return there as I wanna go to BA or MC next year.

Anvil and Orange Goblin announced for next year
