There are some amount of spas on that bloodstick forum.

Well done Alan for speaking out. Aye, the merch percentage screws you. At one festival we ended up losing money on merch[ you have to book an extra bag on the plane].

I'm surprised the bigger promoters aren't offering the bigger bands less, or maybe they are?

Fair play to Bolt Thrower for their stance. Do any other bands do this?

Yeah I totally agree with Alan too. Its not like Bloodstock are just starting out anymore. They saw their biggest crowd @ it last year nearly totalling 12000 people so they're maybe not making millions like some festivals but they must be making enough so that they can pay bands. This is very disapointing news as I know that Primordial would have pulled a decent crowd. I'm actually shocked that Bloodstock would even stoop to this.

Did Bloodstock really have their biggest crowd last year? They were discounting tickets near the end, doing 2 for 1 etc. Doesn't sound like something you would do if tickets were selling well.

Yeah it appears so. I went 2 years ago & there was around 10000 @ it. I think the 2 for 1 tickets bumped the crowd up @ the last minute.

Ive been saying this a lot lately it seems everyone else in the music biz is making money except the bands!

I'd sooner leave the merch at home than charge €30 for a shirt & give most of it to a promoter who isn't even paying you.

If a promoter wants to give a band a slot without a fee then there shouldn't be a % on the merch simple as that.

Some awful sly sneaky cunts in this business.

That explains at Hellfest this year - doom set up in the middle of the field with their shirts and merch and sold the shirts for 10€ a go - granted they were white on black shirts but of as good quality garment if not better than the "big" bands merch being sold for at least twice the price. The bands need to strike back and maybe this will get the ball rolling. The merch is getting far too expensive and again this is not the band's fault but long gone are the days when you could go to a gig have a beer, buy a shirt, program cd etc.. and come home with change. Everyone is losing out here - the merch stands dont seem to do the business like they used to

Yeah especially with the festival ticket prices going up too. I remember 5 years ago getting a Wacken ticket for 50euro. It must be @least 140 euro for a ticket now. Thats some price hike!

Definitely heading to this next year. Craicin' lineup already and had an excellent time at the 09 one.

Robbing bastards, thats a cunt of a thing to ask any band. The merch does seem to be going up at gigs, I used to purchase a shirt at every gig I attended but not anymore
