Yeah, Reus had an unreal season for the gladbach. It could be good value for united. Imagine how much he would cost if he was english Rolling Eyes

Sad to see Kuyt go but we probably had to cash in now. We didn't get much for him but we would have got fa for him by next year.

Do ya think they will eventually make a movie about Joey Barton? To think that he's the captain of QPR too!

His wife died of cancer in 2002, before his 15-year-old son was killed in a car wreck in 2004. Preciado's elderly father also died last year when he was run over.

that'd be explain the heart attack.

And good riddance too. Harry brought this on himself by being the selfish moron he is. Two seasons in a row he exhausted our squad by not rotating which resulted in us collapsing second half of the season. then he was offered a new contract in january but refused to hear about it as he was going to jump ship to england and our season imploded. THEN he went and hired fancy lawyers to negotiate a better deal for himself from Levy. Levy showed real balls and I am proud of him

Absolutely sick. Our board's performed miracles over the years, but at some point, it becomes one miracle too many.

What happened? Lack of main sponsor was a huge factor - we had a few lined up, hell, Betfair had agreed a deal, asked us to hold off announcing it because Cheltenham was coming up the next weekend, they didn't want to be overshadowed by it. Festival ends, Betfair decide "Nope, we're pulling out", sam ehappened with at least two other companies. The increased expenses, and the lack of crowds didn't help.

And as for the FAI? I have nothing but utter contempt for that corrupt criminal shower. This is an organisation that pays it's chief executive more than the entire prize money for the league, a league where the clubs get just over 300k in prize money, despite paying in over 400,000 in registration fees, not to mention fines, etc. Throw in the Airtricity sponsorship. Where does all that money go?

A couple of years ago, Delaney spent 5 grand on Drogheda to help them survive, he wouldn't even pay 50 euro to sponsor a seat in our last fund raising drive. But what do you expect from the sort of bastard who thought Nick Leeson was a fit and proper person to run a football club.

From what I've heard, the final straw was when the FAI demanded a payment that normally happens at the end of the season, but wanted it during the mid season break, a time when we'll have had no home game in 4 weeks. I can only guess that Delaney needed the petty cash to help pay for more pints for "The best supporters in the world". I'm sure him and Fran Gavin'll be downing a few extra pints in celebration.

And despite what a lot of people will think, Roddy was in no way responsible. At least with the transfer window upon us, the players will have a chance to get a new team.
I really hope we're the last club to go under, but considering the way football is run in the country, I seriously doubt it.

It's a disgrace Mower, and very sorry to hear the news. You must be gutted!!

The FAI are a shining example of how this country is run. It's one kick in the balls after another. There actually needs to be an Irish football year zero!
It's so corrupt and really is a laughing stock. It needs to be thorn down and rebuilt.

I hope my Green Card application comes threw soon, New England Revolution needs my support. Irish football will never get another penny out of me.

That's a really good article. It's terrible to hear about Monaghan, never nice to see a club go under, and especially not when very little has been done by the FAI to save them.

According to RTE they have received a bit from the FAI.

Quote:
Monaghan United has received significant support from the FAI and the National League including a facility development loan for €150,000 of which over €100,000 is still outstanding. The FAI also provided a €25,000 grant to the club in 2009 during its AGM in Monaghan, as well as providing assistance in securing Sports Capital Grants for the club.

If that kind of money can't keep a LoI running then the league is doomed!
