Just gave Blood Mountain a spin there for old time's sake and really enjoyed it. I'm sorry I bad-mouthed it at all.
Think I got sick of it back when they were touring the shite out of it. Seen them a few times in the space of the year and they played practically the whole thing each time (or at least a good chunk), so it got a bit dull.
Now, in context of Crack the Skye and the Hunter, the album seems to have a different feel or meaning. I still prefer Leviathan and Remission, but the album is a different kind of animal. ...Much like the newer two. |

| Nice to see them keep up the tradition, that's five albums in a row with an animal on the cover. |

| I like the technicality in there, particularly on some of the drumming. Other tracks however just drag a bit. |

| I truly hope their performance on Holland is absolutely nothing like the absolute shambles that was their first ever National Television appearance on Letterman a few years ago. |

| Ive only ever seen them live once, Hellfest a few years ago. Music was great, vocals were really terribly bad. I wonder if they´ll ever get that right - Ive heard the same criticism levelled at them from many others who have seen them live and that Aragon live release recently is unlistenable for me due to the cack vocals. |

Yeah, I really hope to fuck they've got the vocals sorted live, because they work great on the album.
It's always been a weak link in an otherwise bulletproof show. |

One time it was grand was at graspop a few years ago, also at that gig in village when they were just a 3-piece. |

That gig was Vicar St. (not that it matters).
Loving the new album so far, haven't had a proper sit down with it though, just listens on the bus etc. Love The Creature Lives, and there's a few other classics in there. Maybe a bit too long though, or too many songs? |

| I think it's the perfect length. It's the first time in a long time I've had an album make such an immediate impact on me, I think it's absolutely fucking amazing. |

| Was trying to pre-order the 2 LP version of this and have been told that it is cancelled and it's only coming out as a single LP. Anyone else been told this or shed any light on this? |

thats gas I was thinking the exact same, its like Sab's Sabotage album smashed into a Melvins album tho I think its only influence and they have shitloads of their own ideas in there. Its definitely following in the vein of great metal but its doing it in a way that has never been done before. I think people need to be grateful that any band is creating relevant metal in this day and age because so much of it is cack and mastodon are definitely trying to buck that trend! |

| funny enough this album sounds very like Baroness' last album which I adore..Baroness sounded like a stripped down Mastodon and now Mastodon sound like Baroness....weird but cool |
